We recently connected with Grayson Green and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Grayson thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Since I was young, my parents have always been incredibly supportive of my creative endeavors. I often struggled to stay engaged with the school curriculum, as my mind was constantly preoccupied with new and exciting video or branding ideas. Despite my lack of academic enthusiasm, my parents always encouraged me to pursue my passions and never let my dreams remain just that.
Their unwavering support and encouragement gave me the confidence to take a risk and start my own business as a freelance wedding videographer. Although it may have seemed like a reckless decision to some, my parents believed in my abilities. They instilled the value of taking risks and chasing my dreams.
To this day, my parents continue to lead by example, showing me what it means to work hard, persevere, and take responsibility for what is yours. Their support and guidance have been instrumental in shaping who I am today, and I’m forever grateful for their love and encouragement. I strive every day to make them proud and honor what they’ve taught me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
With five years of professional videography experience and various freelance opportunities under my belt, I offer a wide range of services in Nashville, TN. I consider my business a one-stop-shop for artists seeking customized creative content. As an artist myself, I moved to Nashville to broaden my knowledge in producing and to help other artists with content creation.
My recent focus has been on stylized vertical form videos that align with an artist’s brand, sound, or community. Alongside these videos, I also record and mix live performance audio and offer various other services such as album art, graphic design, full-length music videos, and DMX light programming.
Regarding my own artistic journey, I create alternative/pop music and plan to release a project soon. Above all, my true passion lies in collaborating with good people and creating art that holds meaningful value.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
After working for about seven months at a grocery store (HEB) in Texas, I saved enough money to purchase my first camera. It was the most essential tool I needed to pursue my creative and business goals.
Funding my business has been an ongoing journey ever since I acquired that camera in high school. It’s a never-ending uphill climb if you wish to keep up with new tools and tactics.
For anyone aspiring to start a business, I would advise prioritizing your most important tools and investing your money towards those tools as soon as possible, enabling you to begin your work. With determination and drive, the money will find its way back to you. Before you know it, you will be expanding!
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice
I believe that NFTs are essential for the increasing number of independent artists out there. Personally, I have created several NFT projects, and they have helped me pay for my rent for the first six months of my stay in Nashville. Although NFTs have gotten a bad reputation for being worthless monkey photos, they offer so much more.
NFTs provide a platform for creating digital scarcity for communities, both large and small, and secure identities within those communities. They can act as a special VIP pass to your shows, a means to sell your next single, or start your community subscription, all in one!
However, I advise artists to conduct their research and be cautious of companies that claim to create NFTs for them. I am a firm believer in Crypto and Financial Sovereignty, and NFTs are becoming more accessible for everyday people to generate!
I highly recommend taking a look at NMKR.io on the Cardano Blockchain. This platform allows you to own your NFTs and have complete control over your business. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to discuss this topic further. I could talk about it forever!
