Grant, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I am very happy as a creative, I know to reach my full potential of happiness will be when I can be an artist full time. Sometimes it can be challenging and discouraging, but if you surround yourself with the right people and listen to your conscience everything will fall into place. I’m in a very different space than I was a year ago, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Every trial and tribulation I encounter only helps me grow into a better person and more inspired artist b
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is my ability to connect with other people. When I’m writing a song, it comes from such a deep and personal part of my self. When it’s released, I’m always shocked at how so many people relate and connect to it. I remember opening for Joey Valence and Brae in Brooklyn, NY and seeing so many people singing and dancing along to my set. Music really is a universal language and brings so many people together from all walks of life. I love being the vessel to do that. Because no matter what anyone is going through, they can put it on pause and be present to enjoy the music and I find that to be so beautiful.
How did you build your audience on social media?
This is going to sound cliche, but I built my presence on social media by being 100% myself. I used TikTok and YouTube as my main channels for content and started posting gaming videos, street interviews, and skits. I don’t really pay attention to what’s trending and hop onto something to gain virality. The follower base I have gained likes me for my humor and style, so I never try and change that to appease others. I love using social media to share what interests me which is why you’ll see a lot of skating content and videos of me making music. If you’re just starting out, sit with yourself and figure out what you want to use it for. Are you passionate about art or maybe even your own business? Use social media as a tool to create and fulfill your dreams. This will help you connect with others and grow.
