We recently connected with Grant Greenly and have shared our conversation below.
Grant, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents did several things right that have had a profound impact on my life and career. One of the most significant aspects of their parenting was their unwavering support for my education and personal growth. They instilled in me a love for learning and encouraged me to explore my interests. Unlike with most parents who expect their child to be what they want them to be my parents encouraged me to explore different avenues and see what really stuck. One example would be the time I decided to take up acting. My dreams and aspirations were mainly a pipe dream and for years I took different routes to try and achieve that dream. My parents supported me 100% throughout the entire process and never once told me to try something else.
Grant, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the Acting & Modeling side of things pretty much the same way I got into creating content for social media. I was just bored. Sounds pretty basic and bland and that’s because it is. I don’t really have a sob story to justify the actions I’ve taken to get to this point, I just simply did it and that’s that. I guess you could argue being bullied at a young age helped toughen me up a bit and realize that nothing really matters and everyone is just as miserable as you but I think that only plays a small part. I think the most important thing I think I offer when it comes to creating content and acting in this is to not only improve myself and my craft but to make the viewer feel something meaningful whether its Happiness, Curiosity, Sadness and in somewhat rare chances Anger. I believe appealing to the emotions is the single most important things to do when making content and I hope I am succeeding in that in some way.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goals and mission when I started everything are pretty much the same from when they started to know just with a clearer idea of how to reach said goals. As for acting the long term goal is to win an Oscar for literally whatever and the short term goal is to either star in a movie/ tv show or be a supporting character in a major motion picture. As for content creation, become a internet personality that people recognize and relate to. A lot of people do it today and seeing more and more people do it makes me want to work harder and strive to attain that goal.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience can be very tedious and very exciting at the same time. The mindset is the single biggest thing when trying to build an audience on any platform. Having everything figured out the moment you start is near impossible and most likely will not go they way you have it envisioned. Every single person who follows you has a different mindset on what you post and will always have something to say; be it positive or negative the mindset you need to have towards that is to not pay attention to it. You do what makes you happy in terms of content and build it off of that. In time, the attention will follow. If you attempt to try and satisfy everyone you will get overwhelmed and burnout. Another key thing is when starting off quantity over quality, organic reach on different platforms is a huge thing and you can use that to determine what does well and what doesn’t and adapt.
