We were lucky to catch up with Grant Clark recently and have shared our conversation below.
Grant, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
Two stories come to mind—both highlighting how similar problems require different solutions and why I’m not a fan of general health advice.
Client #1: Stress for Strength
Client #1 came to me highly stressed, anxious, and struggling with deteriorating bone density. My advice was counterintuitive: stress out your body. Yes, seriously. I introduced her to weight training, a method many women initially resist. However, it’s one of the best things they can do for bone density. When you lift weights, your muscles pull on your bones, which stimulates bone growth and increases bone density over time. The results were astounding—her bone density technician was amazed by her progress. Her bones were getting stronger, and she felt more empowered in her body than ever before.
Client #2: Less is More
Client #2 also came to me stressed, anxious, and feeling brittle. But her issues stemmed from an overtaxed nervous system, requiring a completely different approach. Instead of stressing her body further, she needed to learn the art of relaxation. So, instead of a workout, I guided her through Qi Gong, an ancient Chinese practice that combines gentle movement, meditation, and controlled breathing to cultivate and balance the body’s energy, or “qi.” Alongside this, we practiced progressive muscle relaxation, a technique that involves tensing and then slowly relaxing each muscle group in the body to reduce physical tension and calm the mind. She left our session feeling like she was floating, having finally given her nervous system the rest it desperately needed.
The Common Thread: Trusting the Body
In both cases, my advice boiled down to this: trust what your body needs, not what you think it should do. Whether it’s pushing your limits to build strength or finding stillness to restore balance, the body often knows the right path—it just needs a little guidance to get there.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
One of the things I focus on with clients is working myself out of a job. My goal is to help them feel better and give them the tools to maintain that progress on their own. It might seem counterintuitive, but it’s how I know I’ve done my job well.
I’ve been grateful to receive feedback and referrals, and in those conversations, I often hear that I really “get” what people are going through. They tell me they appreciate that I empathize with their struggles, and that I make the process enjoyable, even when they’re dealing with something challenging.
When someone comes to me, they’re often feeling vulnerable, in pain, and sharing things they don’t share with others. My aim is to make that hour we spend together feel good—sometimes we laugh, sometimes there are tears—but always, I’m focused on honoring their goals and helping them get closer to where they want to be.
That genuine connection, combined with a supportive environment, has been the foundation of my reputation. It’s what keeps people coming back and referring others my way.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
A key resource that has shaped my approach is “Move Your DNA” by Katy Bowman. Bowman emphasizes that true health comes from integrating natural movement into our daily lives, not just through structured workouts but through everyday habits.
As she puts it, “Movement is the language of our bodies, and we should use it in as many ways as possible.” This idea inspired a client of mine to do a squat every time she went to get a glass of water. Over time, this small habit led to noticeable improvements in her strength and overall well-being.
Bowman’s insights align with Hidden Warrior’s mission to encourage natural movement throughout daily routines, supporting clients in achieving lasting wellness.
