Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Grandeast Wright. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Grandeast thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents both exposed me to all kinds of music, books, art, foods and just many things that really opened eyes. Both of them also spoke to me and gave me advice at an early age. I can remember from the age of 5, that creating was a part of me and something I was meant to do no matter what. I remember my father loved to make his own clothing and had a lot of fashion/tailoring books. That exposed me to different types of designs and different era’s which fueled my passion for art. Seeing him create his own clothing and having a passion for the arts really inspired me to experiment and dive in to my own craft.

Grandeast, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Grandeast, I am a local visual artist from Chicago, IL. I am a painter, part time tattoo artist, creative event coordinator and mother of two. Art has always been me, it’s always been what I am and what I’m meant to do. I started off in high school trying to sell artwork and work on tattoo designs for students/teachers, which I was successful to always make a little lunch money or money to go the malls. After high school I had a lot of Life shifts, I went to college and flopped my first year. After taking a break from school, my life changed even much more when I became a parent of two. It wasn’t easy navigating the balance between school full time, career, motherhood and my relationship. Fast forward to today, I have had so many changes in my life but I am loving the place I’m in with life.
I offer creative services such as painting commissions, creative events & workshops, original art, prints. I also do custom tattoo work part time from a residential studio space. I feel with all of my clients or everything I offer, I really want to offer a personalized experience and really connect with the people I am around. I like to work with my clients ideas and brainstorm together to achieve better than the outcome desired.
I wouldn’t necessarily say I have anything I am most proud of because that is ongoing but I will always say I am grateful for my journey and always in a state of gratitude. Anyone that has gotten work from me or supported me in any way, I am so appreciative and grateful for you.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission with my creative journey will always be unity and to inspire others to ignite the fire with their own passions and help others, I believe we are all interconnected and that we must use our gifts to make change within the world, nothing happens without one another,

How did you build your audience on social media?
My social started off just as everyone’s else’s but what got me far is being consistent, providing value, engaging and also studying trends. You really have to take time to develop the aesthetic, also the practical and professional aspect of your social media. You have to have a balance that works for you but my biggest advice is to always be authentic and never trade your integrity for anything!
