We were lucky to catch up with Graciela Montich recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Graciela, thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
For 25 years I worked in business, Love to do this but I always had ART as a side activity, because it gives me an indescribable satisfaction of happiness. If art were the only means of economic sustainability, I would have to carry out other activities such as giving classes, seminars, etc. in order to have a regular income, but in my case I have decided to dedicate myself exclusively to creativity since, as I mentioned in the previous paragraph, I have had a parallel activity to Art for a long time. I thank all my family supporting me to dedicate my self full time to this activity, to understand me and to accompany me in this process of change.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As Art is a one way road, I started it many years ago.I graduated from the Catholic University of Cordoba , and Node Center for Curatorial Studies in Berlin Germany ,held workshops and seminars on painting and drawing. I assist to a residences for visual artists in Naples Italy.
I studies the living nature and the way in which humans, surrealistically, could introduce themselves in it to achieve a subject-subject relationship.
Exhibits my art-works in Argentina, Uruguay, Italy, Monte Carlo, France, England and the United States. Now days I’m the curator at Outing Art Gallery Miami and Lucid Design District Miami.
I carried out curatorial work for AMA Foundation Asociacion-Monaco-Argentina in MonteCarlo for Art Monaco , and since 2009, have been a charitable activity in the Solidarity Commission of the Country of Las Delicias Cordoba, where I am the exhibition coordinator of Argentinian artists where all the benefits obtained are donated to the Bank of Food in Argentina
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The most important mission is to be a creative artist , to be authentic . Being true to my unique version, expressing my emotions and experiences genuinely in my art is what makes it memorable and meaningful to both me and my audience. And this is not as easy as to say, because to be creative all days is not easy, and also the creativity has to find you working in your studio!
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
My opinion on NFTs is that they are an interesting innovation in the digital world that allows creators and owners of digital content to authenticate and sell their art work in a unique and decentralized way. However, there are also concerns about its environmental impact due to the hight energy consumption associated with mining cryptocurrencies used to create and trade NFTs.
I do have my art works in NFTs Foundation app @gracielamontich
