Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Grace Ododo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Grace, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
As for how I learned to do what I do, I’d say it was first a gift, then I picked up lessons and tips as I’ve grown.
As a child, I’d always wanted to be an artist, and whenever the question was asked, that was my response. With the support of my family, I was part of art clubs both in my primary and secondary schools and for my tertiary education, I took a 4-year course on visual and creative art at the Federal University of Lafia Nasarawa state.
All of these have contributed to my knowledge of art.
Knowing what I know now, I’d tell my younger self to fail forward and intentionally create “bad” art, ignore perfection and just create.
The skill most essential would be patience, with myself and with my art, one I’m still learning.
For the obstacle that stood in my way of learning more, I’d say perfection, I was scared of creating “bad” art when in fact art doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be art.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Grace Ojonugwa Ododo is an emerging multidisciplinary artist whose journey in art started at the age of four.
Over the years, she has walked this path, joining art clubs at a young age, bagging a bachelor’s degree in visual and creative arts and in 2025 began her pursuit of a masters degree in fine art (painting).
Her choice of subjects is birth from her curiosity of untold stories, unheard perspectives.
Blending contemporary experiments and traditional techniques, she embraces each medium as a new language of expression, allowing her creative process to be an evolving journey rather than a fixed destination.
Each piece serves as both an exploration and discovery_an insight to creativity as an evolving process

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Hmmm!
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative for me would be the art of creation itself.
Bringing imaginations to life, giving or adding a unique meaning to a subject.
It just gives me so much satisfaction

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The current drive for my creative journey would be exploration, of both conventional and unconventional medium, allowing my creative process to be an evolving journey rather than a fixed destination.
