We recently connected with Grace Lougen and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Grace thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One deeply underappreciated facet of entrepreneurship is the kind of crazy stuff we have to deal with as business owners. Sometimes it’s crazy positive sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?
Recently, we did a short weekend tour through NY, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. We were supposed to play in a small town in Pittsburgh, but a huge storm had knocked out power in the town, and everything was closed. We stopped at a gas station and chatted with a lady in lane, telling her that we were in a band and supposed to play here. It was a really pleasant conversation, and we gave her some ice to help her keep her food and drinks cold at home, as well as some merch. She was extremely grateful and still keeps in touch with us on social media!
Moral of the story: everyone is a potential fan. Treat people with kindness and they will like and support you.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Grosh is a genre-blending powerhouse that effortlessly melds hard rock, blues, and funk into a unique sonic experience. Awarded “Best Local Original Music Act” by Buffalo Spree, the quartet recently recorded their latest album at the iconic Sonic Ranch in Texas, solidifying their place among the region’s musical elite. With a live presence as electrifying as their studio recordings, Grosh delivers a visceral, unforgettable performance, leaving audiences captivated by their raw energy and undeniable talent.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Just as we began to get traction in Buffalo, NY, COVID hit. Our last show before lockdown was literally the day before lockdown at the Tralf, a legendary Buffalo venue that closed down and is now Electric City. We were frustrated at first, but used our downtime to write new music, market, stay in touch and make live performance videos that people could stream. When lockdown lifted, we were hungry to perform live and used our momentum to achieve success.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Our social media has been successful amongst our fans due to its authenticity. We don’t ignore online trends, but only following them will ultimately lead to forgettable content. Instead, we try to make our live performance, music videos and promo videos as professional as possible, but we also aren’t afraid to post unpolished, raw content, because it’s fun, funny, and feels more personal/real. Don’t be afraid to just post videos from your phone without editing them! People can tell when you’re being authentic versus just following trends.
