We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Grace Lee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Grace below.
Grace, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Since 2010, I’ve always been in the social media space. I started blogging my personal style and lifestyle, early on in high school and throughout college, which is where I grew my following. After college, I knew I had a passion for social media marketing, but I was unsure of where I truly wanted to be within the space.
After three social media jobs in the corporate world, I decided to take the leap of faith and quit my job to pursue my own social media agency. It took years of making those connections, forming relationships, and understanding the type of clients I wanted to work with. There was so much more to learn — especially on how to start your own business in a place like New York City. I knew for certain that the foundation of my social media agency would focus on digital storytelling. There’s so much power that comes with sharing your story. Over a decade, I had been sharing my story in a creative way on social media, and now it was time for me to help others share their story and have their voice be heard. This was my calling and I knew it was time to begin my own journey.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Grace Lee. I have been in the social media space for about 14 years. I started as a fashion blogger in 2010 and evolved as a social media agency founder in 2020. Gracefullee Made is a social media agency that focuses on helping businesses and entrepreneurs share their story in a unique and creative way. Through our services – social media consulting and content creation, we help capture / edit content for our clients and give advice on how to share that quality content in a way that resonates with their audience. Our services have now expanded to wedding and event content creation, where we focus on the details and the storytelling behind your event / wedding. We capture all the candid moments of your big wedding day, all to the final dance floor moments, so you can have all your content easily in your camera roll right away.
I’ve always had a passion for storytelling growing up. Ever since I was little, I found myself constantly writing in a notebook everywhere I went, documenting pieces of my life and capturing everything on a tiny digital camera. A lot has evolved since then – with camera equipment to building a team, Gracefullee Made is the advisor / helper I wish I had when I first started my business.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I started my online presence in 2010 through a blog website. I remember using Instagram for the first time in 2010 and fell in love with documenting my day-to-day life. From there, I formed connections with other bloggers, users, and started interacting more and more, which led to my growth from high school to college. It took years and years to get to where I am now, and it’s been the consistency that has been most rewarding — staying consistent with engaging, posting quality content, and sharing pieces of my life that resonates with others / provides value.
For those just starting to build a social media presence, enjoy the process. Don’t get too caught up in the numbers and speed of growth. Some paths take longer than others. Always remember your WHY – why you’re sharing. What’s the value behind what you’re sharing? True social media growth is a marathon, not a sprint. My agency focuses on building longevity with your brand, and that’s why we encourage those wanting to grow their presence to focus on the quality more than the quantity of content.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
My clients know that they can trust me because I make sure to build a relationship with them from the start. I’ve found that fostering these relationships with my clients allows them to open up to me in a way where I can help them share the vulnerable and authentic pieces of them on social media. There are still boundaries set in place when it comes to having a professional relationship, but the approach allows them to be comfortable with me. This has helped build that loyalty, and businesses / entrepreneurs know they can always depend on me to reach deadlines or be there for them, when needed.
