We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Grace Green. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Grace below.
Grace, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
I am immensely blessed to have grown up with the parents I have! They are go-getters, hard-working and deeply committed people. They have taught me (and all of my siblings) what it means to work hard and never give up on your dreams, no matter how big they seem. I have watched them face trials, unexpected setbacks and uncomfortable challenges with valor and great faith while still finding joy in the process. In everything they put their hands to, they have given it their very best. My mom always used to tell me, “If you’re going to do anything, do it right!”. I watched my dad never turn down a challenge or let it get the best of him. I am certain that their constant example of courage and strength has made me who I am today, and helped me build the foundation of the my entrepreneurial journey. They have given me their unwavering support and encouragement, and I know Charisma Films wouldn’t be what it is without that.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started Charisma Films out of a need. Let’s rewind a bit. September 10th of 2021 I married my best friend. I was 20 years old and full of excitement and only the best kind of butterflies. I can still remember smiling so hard my cheeks were sore before I had even walked down the aisle. While moments from this beautiful day feel like it was just yesterday, there’s still quite a bit of blur, that I wish I could remember clearly. I found myself saying “If only we had a videographer”…This is the very thing that many couples face. Wedding days end as quickly as they begin and without someone dedicated to capturing your special moments, many of these memories get lost in the blur of excitement. This is the need: to capture your organic memories that become timeless heirlooms. Charisma Films offers a blend of authentic and organic moments from your day with professional and high quality imagery. I find in the industry of wedding videographers, so much of the focus is on how things looked. While that is not a bad thing at all, I believe that you should also be able to remember how your day felt and the love story that brought you there. For every couple I get the honor of serving, my aim is to capture organic and precious moments from their wedding day that showcase their love story well.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I have worked for many bosses, serving the vision of people who didn’t truthfully value my work as an employee. What has quickly become the most rewarding thing as a wedding videographer is definitely the joy of gifting people with something they can appreciate for the rest of their lives. It’s truly a rewarding and fulfilling purpose as a business owner, and one of my greatest joys!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth communication is the most effective way to book leads in this industry. I have had the pleasure of serving couples who then tell their friends, or post my work on social media for their other friends and family to see. This has helped my business grow, as one lead could open the door to two or three more. Alongside organic word of mouth, having a portfolio has served me greatly when booking clients from cold leads. There was a time in the very beginning where I had to offer things for free or an extremely discounted price in order to get the exposure and experience I needed. Between these two things, they have both become a part of my business strategy for building clientele.
