Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Grable Howie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Grable , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful song I’ve ever created is called “These Woods.” It reminisces about the time my grandfather and I spent together when I was a kid. Our family owns a cabin in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming, and during my childhood, my grandpa nurtured my love for nature. Unfortunately, he passed away from Alzheimer’s a few years ago, and I wanted to write a song to honor the impact he had on my life.

Grable , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a folk artist, songwriter, and producer! I’ve been releasing music under my own name for over a year now, and all of my music falls within the folk genre, with hints of pop and country. My songs tell the story of my life growing up in Longmont, Colorado, reflecting my values of hard work, excellence, and a deep appreciation for family and legacy. I’m currently a graduating senior at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and I’ll be receiving my bachelor’s degree in Independent Recording and Production this May! Whether I’m in Boston or Colorado, I perform constantly. Over the past few years, I’ve played everything from small bars to large concert halls. My passion for music comes from creating moments that make people feel emotions that words alone can’t express. After graduation, I’ll return to Colorado for a short time before moving to Nashville to continue pursuing my career as an artist.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, every day is about striving to create music that evokes powerful emotions that others can connect with. Incredible folk artists like Noah Kahan and Gregory Alan Isakov are changing lives with their music, and my goal to positively impact as many people as possible is why I’m pursuing this career.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Creating art is more complex than many other professions because it requires a unique connection to your emotions and feelings. In many fields, people are encouraged to push as hard as they can and grind to get work done, but in this profession, I’ve found that the best music comes from being in touch with your mind and taking care of your mental well-being.
