We were lucky to catch up with Good Vibes Crew recently and have shared our conversation below.

Good Vibes Crew, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Good Vibes Crew was random, to say the least. Simone and I were reflecting on our friendship and those in our lives today, expressing how we were thankful for them and the good vibes brought by each individual. From there, we thought building a brand around good vibes and friendship would be great. Nowadays, friendships are not what they used to be, and having genuine people in your life who rock with you every step of the way during your highs and lows is essential, so we wanted to highlight that through our brand. We knew this was a worthwhile endeavor because friendship and good vibes will never cease. No matter the age, gender, race, or ethnicity, everyone can relate to the brand. Honestly, we never thought about the brand working or not. I guess you can say the start of the brand was based on vibes. The intention was to have fun and create fresh ideas for promoting good vibes via fashion. Highlighting the people in our lives through our products gets us most excited. Without them, there would not be a Good Vibes Crew, LLC.

Good Vibes Crew, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Good Vibes Crew was created by myself (Keila) and Simone. We met back in 2016, and since our friendship flourished. The very first day we met, our vibes just meshed. Our brand was created to emphasize not only our friendship but others as well. We wanted to create a lifestyle brand that promotes and provides good vibes throughout life, fashion, and mentality. We provide clothing from t-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies, hats, and socks. We’re most proud of our vision. Even if we fall off due to life, we always return to our vision. Life gets crazy with work, family, and self-care, but going through life gives us new insight and ideas for upcoming products. For those reading, we would like them to know even though we are a small business; we live out what we promote. We may not be on the same level as other great brands, but we are unapologetically ourselves and produce what we believe in; friendship and good vibes.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

How we met is a funny, odd story. As mentioned prior, Keila and I met in 2016. We were invited to a mutual friends’ game/movie night. During this time, the movie Sauage Party came out. Of the other attendees, Keila and I had never seen the movie, and everyone raved, saying we had to see this movie. We caved and watched. By the movie’s end, our jaws were on the ground; we couldn’t believe the ending. In our disbelief, we joked and discovered we had other things in common. Before the evening ended, Keila claimed our friendship, being best friends. From there, I invited Keila to other outings/events, and the friendship grew. We are the official Dougie dance partners. Whenever, wherever, whatever, we will hit a clean dougie. Our religious values, morals, and ethics all align. Though we have a lot in common, we have our differences as well. Our similarities and differences create an outstanding balance in our friendship and brand.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

One lesson we had to unlearn is that running a business with social media does not mean “Overnight Success”. Often we see other companies that seem to have more clients and followers and deem that as success, but we rarely think about how they got to that point and how we can learn from them. There is truly enough love and opportunity to go around that we can all win and be successful as long as we put the work in!
