Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Good Job. . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Good thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Currently we are taking time off from playing shows, so we can start to work on our next full length album. This will be the first time that we get to collectively work on an album together. We plan for this to be the most honest and genuine music we’ve put out so far.
Additionally, we plan on launching our first online store. We are working with several independent artists to create and establish a brand identity that reflects our values of community, compassion and looking after one another
Good, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello, we are Good Job, an indie band based primarily out of Seattle, WA. We’ve been playing music together for about 4 years now. What sets us apart from the other bands in our area is that we really try to push for a kinder world. We try to stay true to our message of being compassionate and taking care of those around you.
We try to write songs from personal experiences as a way to cope and as a way for others find comfort in mutually shared hardships.
What we’re most proud of is the impact we have made on our current fans that have had a chance to hear our music and those who have felt healing through our songs. Recently we had a fan reach out and thank us for our music. They let us know that one of our songs saved their life and helped them through a really dark time. It is a true blessing to be able to make music that not only resonates with people but impacts their lives as well.
At the end of each show we make a point to ask everyone to reach out to people they know. To check in and be there for one another, because you never know when saying hi can save someone’s life.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson we had to unlearn is that we don’t need to be the biggest band or the best musicians in our city.
What we learned to be important, is being true to our self and our message. We want to continue to write music that connects with our audiences and impacts our fans on an emotional level.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
The biggest thing we can do as individuals is see the value of art in our everyday lives and be willing to support the folks in our community providing these essential services.
Unfortunately the increasing costs of seeing celebrity artists play live has created a situation in which seeing your favorite artists is inaccessible to many, however this presents an opportunity for people to invest again locally and find their new favorite artists in their own communities.
