We recently connected with Goldyn Gambit and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Goldyn, thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
As of right now I haven’t been able to earn full time living off of my creative endeavors. However I am in a transitional period of attempting to! Basically spending more time on generating income from my music, live performances, public speaking fees when I curate mental health expos, social media consulting exc. it’s a lot easier now that I’m established locally in Michigan so I do have a variety of clients I work with, from other musicians to some of the biggest venues here! If I had the knowledge I have now years ago I would be much further ahead, but I’m still grateful for my lifestyle currently

Goldyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been making music for about 17 years, but about 3 years ago I got into booking events for other artist, as well as my own shows ! I curate lineups of all genres from rock, to R&B, to jazz! I’ve become a pillar in the Detroit community for organizing musical events, primarily in the alternative goth genre. What sets me apart from other promoters & event coordinators is that I’m artist friendly due to the fact I’m a musician as well. I’m most proud of the positive reputation I’ve managed to build for myself. The name GoldynGambit is known for being a safe supportive space for indie artist & bands of all identities. I’ve reached viral status on Instagram reaching millions of viewers organically so I have been offering social media consulting to help small businesses & brands.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to create art from my soul, my heart & share it with people who can relate and appreciate it. It’s very fulfilling knowing that I made something that is “mine” but can also be embraced by strangers !

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience staying consistent to my niche of alternative, goth, misfit, punk, sigma individuals! My messages are always geared toward people who rebel & don’t conform to societal constraints! Part of the reason why my aesthetic is black lipstick & black tears, it’s a statement of freedom & individuality. It’s authentic and it’s me at my core and many people can relate, I try to inspire others to be themselves and do what makes them happy regardless of he public’s opinion
