Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Goldie Vargas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Goldie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’ve always known that I wanted to pursue something in the arts. My grandma is an artist and my mom was a model and professional dancer, so I was consistently surrounded by art and music growing up. When I was a toddler I was drawn to my moms piano, I would try and reach the keys and sit my self on the stool that came with it to play “songs”. Around 5 my mom put me in piano lessons because she got tired of me trying to learn songs off of YouTube and that’s where the passion truly started from. At 14 I started writing my own songs and at 16 I made the decision to not go to college and to pursue music! My mom promised me that I could start to pursue music when I turned 18 and I thank her every day for that decision.
Goldie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hey! I’m Goldie Vargas, I am 22 years old and a singer/songwriter born and raised in LA. I write pop music that is inspired by classic rock artists like David Bowie, Stevie Nicks, the Rolling Stones, Elvis. My goal is to create music that transports people to a different world where you can feel free and heard while listening to. I find that so many people need music that feels relatable and truthful, so I try my hardest to go as deep and vulnerable as possible while songwriting. Everything I write is a direct reflection of my own personal experiences which I think sets me apart from other artists!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Seeing how many people relate to my music and creating different memories with my songs. All my songs start with just me and a piano alone writing about my feelings. I know how my songs originated and they feeling like little chapters in my life but to see other people create different memories to it is so cool. It kind of feels like a secret club ahahaha
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Consistent support goes such a long way. Go to shows, buy merch, repost songs on your socials, and stream! Adding to playlists, sharing with your friends. A post on a story goes such a long way, it doesn’t matter if your have 2 followers or 2 million.
