We were lucky to catch up with Golden Child recently and have shared our conversation below.
Golden Child, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I take risks often. And the I’ve realized that the common thread between them all is that they occur around change.
Leaving college was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken, and it wasn’t necessarily a hard decision. For a long time, I followed the path that I assumed everyone around me expected. Graduate high school, pick a major, and work toward a degree. But as time passed, I realized that simply being in school didn’t guarantee I was moving toward the life I wanted. And that no one was actually making me do it. After living out my college dreams of football games, parties, and proving that i could get good grades, I felt stuck, unmotivated, and disconnected from what I was studying. Deep down, I knew I had a different direction calling me, even if I couldn’t fully explain it at the time.
Walking away from college meant stepping into uncertainty. I had no guarantees, no blueprint, and no applause for choosing a harder, less predictable route. But taking that risk forced me to discover what I truly wanted. It pushed me to find my own ambition, develop real-world skills, and build something meaningful on my own terms.
Leaving college wasn’t about giving up. It was about taking control. It taught me how to bet on myself, trust my instincts, and create opportunities instead of waiting for them. That risk became a turning point in my life, showing me that the path to success isn’t always traditional. Sometimes it starts with the courage to walk away from what’s not working.

Golden Child, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
What started as a personal love for music grew into a full business focused on empowering independent artists. Today, AUthority Records provides a range of services including artist development, project management, production coordination, and release support. Whether someone needs guidance on building their fanbase, rolling out a single, or creating the image that matches their sound, I help artists turn vision into execution. A lot of people know what they want their career to look like but they don’t know how to get there.
My mission is to fill the gap between independent artist and major labels. Every artist wants recognition, and rightfully deserves it. They only lack the execution. Labels want the next hottest artist but don’t know where to look. I want to fill that gap.
One thing I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come without shortcuts, major backing, or relying on anything other than hard work, resilience, and ambition. Every service I offer, every agreement I draft, and every strategy I build is designed to elevate independent artists and put real power back in their hands.
If there’s one thing I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know, it’s this: AUthority Records is more than a label; it’s a platform created to help artists move like professionals, think bigger, and rise above the noise. My work is rooted in authenticity, creativity, and structure. If you’re serious about leveling up, I’m serious about helping you get there.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
AUthority Records exists, to create timeless music, by empowering artists to stay true to their voice, while delivering gold-standard quality to the world. We champion originality, elevate culture, and build a platform where an artists excellence shines.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the idea that progress requires permission.
For a long time, I thought collaboration, approval, or the “right moment” had to come from someone else before I could take the next step. I’d wait for people to show interest, validate my ideas, or wait for a team before executing. I was trying to build my vision while relying on people who didn’t have the same drive, urgency, or commitment that I did. And every time I waited, I fell behind.
Once I started moving on my own time, launching projects, building my brand, and taking those risks without looking around for approval, everything began to shift. I learned that momentum comes from action, not from waiting, and that the right people show up once you start leading instead of following.
