We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ri & Ro of GNSL a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

GNSL, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

Our projects are deeply rooted in real-life experiences, each reflecting the emotions we’ve navigated during those seasons. Every song we craft holds profound significance to us, embodying our relentless pursuit of hustle, positivity, motivation, and passion. We are Grind Now Sleep Later(GNSL) the meaning behind our name directly reflects what we stand for. Every pursuit as creatives, alongside the relentless journey, has been profoundly meaningful to us, shaping our identity and fueling our ambition.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

In 2017 Ri launched GNSL (Grind Now Sleep Later), a clothing brand dedicated to fostering positivity and productivity within the community. The mission is to craft apparel that inspires, urging individuals to persevere and embody resilience. Through designs GNSL aims to empower individuals to never give up, reminding them that setbacks are just temporary hurdles on the path to success. As we delved deeper into our music journey, we initially operated under our individual names. However, as our commitment to music grew and evolved, we recognized the importance of establishing a unified group name. Given that GNSL already encapsulated our values it became the natural choice for our music group’s name. The music we create as artists embodies the fusion of hustle and motivation, with passion as its defining essence. Our music is grounded in real-life experiences and relatable scenarios that resonate with everyone. We transform pain into drive and motivation into monumental energy. Through storytelling and poetic elements, our sound captures a diverse range of emotions. Our music is versatile, perfect for vibing out at a cook out, strip club, house party, workout playlist, on your way to work, etc.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The ability to bring tears to people eyes through our music speaks volumes to us. It affirms that we are truly connecting with people through our music, which is one of our objectives as artists. We take pride in our ability to engage the audience and getting them dancing. For us, performing is just as thrilling as the songwriting process itself. Every step from the initial writing sessions to the final song is rewarding. Ultimately, our passion for making music drives us, and we cherish every moment spent doing what we love,

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Our goal is to inspire and create music that: holds volume, is timeless, and relatable to everyone that hears it. Our mission is to infuse our sound with encouragement, motivation, and good positive energy. “Grind Now Sleep Later” isn’t just a name for us -it’s a way of life for us. GNSL has turned into a lifestyle for us. We practice what we preach and embrace every challenge with determination and resilience. We thrive to channel our passion into our music as well as share our message through it.
