Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Glory Agbebaku . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Glory , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?

For over 15 years making music, This year is when I decided to learn about the business side in music. I have always rely on record labels to take care of management and promotion of my music. Just this month, I decided to take up the responsibility. It is exciting to learn how to package oneself, prepare for release, register my music with a distribution company, taking charge of my profile on music stores, pitch curators for playlists, prepare for PR campaign, press release and promotion.

Glory , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Glory Agbebaku better known by his stage name Waymi, is a Nigerian born and raised pop artist with a penchant for making his unique personality and eccentricities shine through his songs, thereby giving his audience a front row experience to his history, present and future. Waymi found his love for music during his high school days with a keen interest in rap, pop, afro pop and other genres. He would memorise whole songs and perform them to his classmates, later on developing his songwriting skills, as he wanted to express himself to his audience and not be a copy of other artists out there . Waymi is a graduate of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo university, where he studied History & International Relations thereby improving his knowledge of the world around him. He spent years becoming a fitness expert, building a very successful career as a personal trainer, but continued to pursue his career in music along-side. Waymi aims to push his music far beyond borders, entertaining any and everyone who hears his sound. His debut track will be released in 29th of June, 2023.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My goal and mission is to inspire people with my music. I have always crave for a fan base that I can release at least one song to them every month. This is one of the reasons, I decided to take up the business side of my music. I want to give it all the necessary push and promotion to let more people hear and feel my craft. . I already have ditto music taking charge of my campaigns and promotion for up coming release that will be on all music platforms on the 29th of June. Watch out for Calling by Waymi.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect in my music career, is when I started believing in myself. Believe in my vocals, believe in the kind of sounds that gives me inspiration. There is nothing more rewarding knowing your voice is unique and extraordinary. That was the beginning of success for me.
