We were lucky to catch up with Gloria Jordan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gloria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I believe that when people hear the word model they create a idea in their head that were extremely stuck up, snobby, rude, think that we assume everyone is beneath us. But that’s not me at all I’m a regular girl I think highly of myself and it took me along time to get there. I use to think I wasn’t beautiful enough, good enough, experienced enough to be that perfect image of what the world 🌍 SEES WHAT THEY THINK a model should look like or how we should act. But I love being in front of a camera it’s my escape from stress, pain, etc. modeling is my happy place and it’s what got me out of alot of dark places I was in

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a model I also am creating my own online clothing store trying to do both is hard because I’m also a mom so my life is hectic I’m busy all the time rather it’s getting my business off the ground, a photoshoot, video shoot, and then my regular day to day job but I do all of this because I enjoy it and it’s who i am. I start do professional modeling in 2019. I’ve always love the camera i feel like that’s what I was born to do. My goal is to show young girls that you can be whoever and whatever you want to be no matter how you look I had that problem because I was afraid of all of my what if moments to myself I was my own blockage too my success and dreams for years because I feared all of the what ifs I created in my head. You have to overcome your fear of failure failure is a lesson not a down fall and that’s what I had to learn

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Network network network… don’t be afraid to meet new people and work with people you wouldn’t think you would work with. If your shy and think things are just going to drop in your lap you have a very long road ahead of you. In order to succeed you have to put in the work you have to start from the bottom and make your way up if people have events show up you never know who you might meet, introduce yourself to people social media is the biggest thing in this generation
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Give others a chance. Everything is based off of social media these days so if it’s someone that has 600 followed and than someone who has 18k followers naturally people will gravitate to the one who has the most followers not knowing that the person that has 600 followers has so many connections it could make your head spin in other words don’t judge a book by it’s cover
