We were lucky to catch up with Glennetrius “Coach G” Neal recently and have shared our conversation below.
Glennetrius “Coach G”, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
No one has ever asked this question, but I would love to share. Most people assume because my name, Glennetrius starts with a “G”, but truthfully it is God. Growth. Goals. My company name is the pillar of what has allowed my life to grow and how I value my client’s growth. God is the foundation. As a Christian woman, I believe God created us for a purpose and a calling to serve others. Growth is where we choose to be intentional in our actions to see the change we want to see. Goals are what help you set a plan to put into action. The word “style” stands for how we are all unique, not a one-size-fit-all, which is why G-style Coaching offers a signature approach in building strategies tailored to our client’s individual growth goals and development. However, the “G’ works in my favor as being known as “Coach G”.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the sister you never knew you had. Growing up, I longed to have a close bond with a sister who I could share my struggles with; laugh, cry, love, and fight a little. I also wanted the big brother to fight in my defense. Although it was a pain point, it fueled my passion in helping others maximize their potential, build a supportive community, and enhance team development. For this reason, I get to serve as your Chief Cheerleader, Champion, Connector, and Advocate in helping you WIN from with-IN life and business. I believe INclusion is the greatest empowerment of helping others know they belong in the room and at the table and how we can drive internal growth.
As a speaker, leadership and growth coach strategist, mentor, and best-selling author, it is more than the title. I am dedicated to empowering women leaders and teams across the globe in bridging their growth gaps with a focus on connection, collaboration, and celebration. In my signature approach, I help clients shift their perspectives and achieve their growth goals with intentional actions for purposeful success tailored to meet their unique needs.
I am in love with what I get to do every day in my work, but one of my favorite times of the month is facilitating Sister T.E.A. Talk BOARDROOM or what I describe as “therapy for the soul.” This is a virtual space with other women in business focusing on “filling your cup” to better serve your clients, community, and yourself. I believe it starts with focusing on the whole you, wholistically: mentally, physically, socially, spiritually, financially, and emotionally as we grow forward.
I believe my greatest accomplishment is motherhood and having the opportunity to lead others on their growth journey. I am proud in receiving a best-selling author status, being featured on Zondra TV, and launching Queen’s Court SocieTEA School of Growth which is a personal development membership program for women leaders.
One phrase that may best describe how growth happens is realizing “Growth is not in a box”, and I am blessed how I can help my clients transform from the INside-out.
Together, we can achieve growth and success with style.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The three C’s have been effective in growing my clientele. Consistency, Connection, and Collaboration. When you show up consistently in your business you build trust and visibility. Whether it is showing up to scheduled meetings, networking, email marketing, or social media. Find your sweet spot which allows you to be present and accountable to and for your audience. Connection happens when you seek to understand your audience, potential clients, sponsors, and partnerships through listening, networking, focus groups, and gaining feedback. Collaboration kicks competition out the door which opens the space for growth in working together towards a broader vision. Foremost, in all of these strategies, show up with what you can give not what you can get.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
In all transparency, I had to learn to approve of myself and unlearn being a people-pleaser. Although I am still removing layers, I am grateful to say I am not allowing it to stunt my growth. For those who struggle in this area will understand. As a people-pleaser, you are more focused on what they think you should and should not do or say, more than what you think and what is inside of you guiding you on your journey. So, for me, my unlearning was to become more God-focused than people-focused. As I have stated, I received best-selling author status in this anthology for Lioness Vol. 2 Prayers and Affirmations for Women Leaders. By the way you can purchase a copy from my website at https://gstylecoaching.com/shop/ols/products/lioness-vol-2. In my chapter, “Stand in Your Queendom Power”, I shared how I had to honor the gifts inside of me by placing my faith in what God will do. The unlearning involved me taking intentional, courageous steps through uncomfortable conversations and life’s obstacles, being a voice to empower other girls and women, pursuing my dreams, and starting my coaching and consulting business to inspire growth amongst women leaders and teams across the globe.
