We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Glenn Douglas Packard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Glenn Douglas thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
YES! I can not imagine doing something that isn’t creative, it literally gives me a rush of energy like nothing else. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a 9 to 5 job and I am thankful I was born with the creative gene and the know that anything is possible if you set your mind to make it happen.
Glenn Douglas, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Emmy Nominated choreographer (Michael Jackson, Pink, Ricky Martin, Missy Elliot, Daddy Yankee, Usher), dancer, reality television star, producer and award winning film director born in Detroit, MI. I starred on two seasons of the VH1 reality series Brooke Knows Best & Produced/starred & created in the E! movie event called ‘Men of The Strip’. I made my directorial debut with the slasher film Pitchfork, which was released in January 2017. The New York Times called me ‘A Dancing Entrepreneur’ & 517 Magazine dubbed me ‘The Dream maker’ to my dance company #theINstituteofDancers
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
No one told me when I got started as a dancer that I would see the world and get paid doing it. The thing I loved to do not only had me traveling the world but I made a lot of money doing it. Who can say they had a job like that.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I would like to leave a legacy that if you find your passion in life, no matter what it is, you will have a happy life doing what you love, that if you keep marching forward your dreams come true, that if you SMILE the world will SMILE back at you, if you live your life being authentic to yourself & never be ashamed of who you are, you can live your happily ever after.
