Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Giulina Sertl. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Giulina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
As a photographer covid has changed my business model a bit. As restrictions were easing I could do photoshoots with a mask on and at a distance, but it opened my eyes to expanding my offerings. I started to develop presets and sell prints of my photographs. These allowed me to connect with customers in new and exciting ways that I had not done before.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been creative for as long as I can remember. My childhood consisted of me constantly draping fabrics on mannequins trying to come up with something new, attending fashion shows, and creating monthly magazines to give out to friends. I got my first camera when I was six years old and immediately, I was obsessed. In high school, I took my first film photography course and fell in love. Something about watching the photos come to life seemed like pure magic to me. Moving into college I became more interested in digital photography and the editing process. I graduated from Webster University in May of 2021 with a double major in Business Management and Media Communications with a concentration in Photography.
Following graduation I started my own photography business – Photography by Giulina. I specialize in portraits, food and drink photography, fashion photography, and product photography. Local clients I’ve worked with include Olive + Oak, Planter’s House, Perennial on Lockwood, Mac’s Local Eats, The Parkmoor, KIND Soap Company, and Russell’s Cafe and Bakery. Recently my photographs of Planter’s House have been featured in Gin Magazine Issue 18.
The work I am most proud of is in the fall of 2021 I had the opportunity to go to Paris Fashion Week. I photographed the Valentino and Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2022 shows and did street-style work throughout the week. It felt surreal to be living and working in my favorite city, which was something I’d dreamed of for so long.
Currently, I am offering photoshoot packages found on my website. If you’re not seeing exactly what you’re looking for feel free to reach out! Something new this year that I am excited to announce is that I’m starting to sell prints and products with my work.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the people I’ve met and experiences I’ve had along the way. I have met so many amazing people in different industries all over the world from simply putting myself out there with my camera.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I think the mission that drives my creative journey is simply that I want to create beautiful images that make people feel something.
