We were lucky to catch up with Gisselle Rodriguez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gisselle , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The legacy I want to build revolves around my kids. I want to show them you have to work hard to get what you want. Don’t ever give up and follow your heart and dreams. The most important don’t settle! Always strive for more! I went to school for dental originally and then after couple years I decided hey I want a side business in beauty and I went for it. Soon that became my priority and I made that full time. Then I also started doing UGC which I’ll get into later but thing is don’t settle!
What I hope people will say about me when I’m gone is that I was a hard worker/go getter! I always have been ever since I was little. Seeing my mom be just that motivated me to be the same. I hope to remembered as that awesome person that stays pushing people especially her loved ones to go after their dream and to put themselves first sometimes.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So let’s start off from the beginning I was first a Dental assistant. As soon as I graduated high school I went to school originally for Dental Hygiene but tables turned once I found out I was pregnant. I wanted to change schools to something that will get me into the dental field faster. So I changed to a private school which I only had to do a full year and then I’ll be a dental assistant. So that’s how I got there.
After a few years I decided hey I’m actually passionate about beauty! I was and still am into lash extensions and brows, etc. so I went and took courses on it and started promoting myself online on instagram and I’m so grateful to have family that cheer me on and helped me get clients as well. And in less than a year I had already gotten so much loyal clients that I took my side business and made it my full time business.
In 2022, I got pregnant again with my second baby and I stayed “hustling” until it was time for me to pop. Around that time I was going through a lot we were about to move to a whole new state! We lived in New York but we moved out here to Florida and we had a newborn. So since I didn’t feel ready to start my business after giving birth I decided let me start UGC. I find it more as down time to keep me a little busy and I must say I really enjoy it! This is something I still do today part time as I go to school to finish up my full specialties licensing.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my social media audience with both my personal/UGC profile and my beauty tech profile on instagram. It’s more so staying on top of your goals and being very consistent! Figure out what’s trending and how can you get yourself to trend on other people’s socials. I know people say “ads” but honestly you can do it without ads! Just be consistent in showing your face and your work and you can achieve the goal you want. If you have friends or family willing to share some of your post that can also be helpful don’t be afraid to ask.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What help build reputation is consistency and the passion I showed in my videos and real life to my clients. I’m very authentic I show that in my videos and I’m the same in person. People love the real and rawness. When people know they can trust you they will keep coming back just be 100% authentically you!
