We recently connected with Giselle & Stephen and have shared our conversation below.
Giselle & Stephen, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Our mission is to inspire other full time workers to get out and travel/adventure through pictures and videos. We both would work Monday-Friday and then travel Friday-Sunday in the past. From our experience, most of America puts work first, family second, and travel/vacation last on their priority list. Our goal is to change that mentality so that more people understand how important it is for their physical and mental health to get out and explore this beautiful world. We came up with our mission to help share tips and photos of our adventures to hopefully inspire at least one person to take their loved ones on a trip or vacation that will create memories to last a lifetime. Traveling and adventuring has changed our lives for the better and we hope that we can inspire others to do the same.
Giselle & Stephen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are Giselle & Stephen and we are Professional Adventure Travel Photographers and Bloggers based in California. For the past 2 years we have travelled around the world creating informational tips, itineraries, and travel guides to help other people with full time jobs travel on a budget. Both of us started photography and videography two years ago when the pandemic hit, and learned everything about editing over YouTube. Since then, we have grown our following to over 500k and help millions of people per month through our how to guides. We think that we are different from most other influencers and travel accounts because we take all our own pictures using a tripod, both work full time jobs while running this side hustle business, and create adventure travel content that is made for the average person rather then a luxury 5 star resort that most people can not afford. Both of us are very proud that we are able to help so many people start to travel and inspire them to take their first road trip, go camping, buy a plane ticket, or just go on a little weekend adventure.
How’d you meet your business partner?
Giselle & I met at a friend’s birthday party in college in December 2019. It was actually Giselle’s co-birthday party and our mutual friend Lindsay was playing matchmaker. She told both of us separately that we should go and talk to each other. The following week, we went out for coffee and ended up staying there for 3 hours talking about our past, getting to know each other, and learning that we both loved traveling. The following week, Stephen asked to go on a road trip up to Big Sur in California. This ended up being a huge moment for us because it was a 10-hour road trip filled with hiking, photos, exploring new areas, and growing closer. The following month, we went on a 4-day backpacking trip that sealed the deal for our relationship and our love for adventure travel. This led us to start an account, dedicated to helping other people chase their adventure travel dreams.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
If there was one piece of advice that we would give people that has helped us find new clientele and grow, it is TikTok. We started our business last year in March 2021 and after pushing content on TikTok to show what we do, we saw a 1500% increase in sales and new clients reaching out. TikTok is amazing because it pushes your content to everyone based on their amazing algorithm.
