Giselle , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My company starts and ends with LOVE! It has always been my mission to never miss the opportunity to show others that I genuinely cared about them and I wanted to see them be the best version of themselves. As I look back and I reflect, all I ever wanted as a child was to genuinely know what it felt like and what it meant to be loved unconditionally.
My life is truly a story that is just waiting to be told! But, in the meantime my mission will be to provide every opportunity that I can, to make sure that everyone that I cross paths with knows and understands what it means to be loved. It may be through my kind words, a small token of appreciation, some quality time, or just simply knowing my story and being inspired to never give up.
I confess to the world that this journey has not been easy but, to buckle up so you can continue to experience the “Perfect Love Story”.


As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Guzel Cakes started off as a Labor of Love in 2018, when I was laid off my job. I worked in the Oil and Gas industry for 17 years. Although, I was making great money, I couldn’t compete with the economy and it’s consistent layoffs. After losing everything, I was humbled and I finally took a chance on myself. I decided to put my all into something, to see what would happen. On a Friday night, I decided to bake a cake (my first one ever) and on Monday morning I went to the courthouse and filled for my DBA.
Because, I decided to bet on myself, these years in business has been such a rewarding experience. My ultimate goal and mission is to be the most loved dessert company in the world!


Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I remember when COVID began and there was an issue with getting product for our everyday production. Every ingredient was being shorted in all local grocery stores, by large manufacturers. My team and I had to drive our personal vehicles to pick up product throughout the city. It would sometimes be a 10 to 12 hour workday, just shopping for ingredients. I remember shopping 2 to 3 days straight, with no sleep. We have traveled as far as Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi to shop for product, to keep up with the demand. I even had my family sending me product all the way from California. The exhaustion was surreal!


What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My strategy has been for my clientele to “Experience The Love” of my journey They have been with me, every step of the way. I have been transparent in sharing every high and every low, so that they can understand the sacrifices that I have had to make. I thank God everyday for social media because, it has allowed me to stay connected with my G-Cake Lovers everyday. It was also a rule of thumb for me to tell 3 people a day about Guzel Cakes. I was always told that the biggest form of advertisement was by word of mouth!
