We recently connected with Girvan Swirv Bramble and have shared our conversation below.
Swirv, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
So after being in this industry for quite some years now, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to have worked on quite a few incredible projects. I’ve been in films like Ant Man & the Wasp and Dune. TV shows such as Henry Danger, Jack Ryan, and Love Death & Robots: Jibaro. Stunt Doubled for Mike Tyson, Terry Crews, Kenan Thompson, and Jovan Adepo. Worked with music artists such as Beyonce, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, Karol G, the list goes on.
But truly, even after all these amazing projects, my most meaningful ones have been the personal projects I’ve worked on myself. The short films, the fights I’ve been able to put my most creativity into, those are the ones that have become the ones I’ve looked back most fondly on. This year I’ve been going viral with my Action team FWC on social media, and the results of our work have been received greatly by the public, garnering views of over 3-60 million on certain fights, across all social platforms. Being an action designer and creator has allowed me to utilize all my creativity in just making things I love and to utilize all the ideas we’ve been able to come up with. We’ll be using these skills in shooting full on feature films, and then I’m certain those projects will become my most meaningful.

Swirv, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Swirv, an Action Actor and Fight Coordinator/Action Designer.
After graduating university with a degree in Business and Japanese, I taught English in South Korea for 3 years, then spent a year backpacking and competing in Breaking (Breakdance) competitions around the world. After traveling I returned to LA and got my start in Hollywood as a Dancer, Actor, and Stunt Performer.
I grew up doing a variety of martial arts such as Taekwondo, Shotokan karate, Kungfu, and martial arts tricking (gymnastics and Martial arts), so stunts was a natural fit for me. I have trained in a quite a variety styles for stunts, with my main favorites being in Boxing, Jiujitsu, and TaeKwonDo. This variety, along with breaking, has allowed me to be very creative in my action designing of fight sequences.
As an industry professional, I’ve been honored to work alongside some of the highest level of talent, and this journey has literally taken me all over the world and places I could never have imagined I would have gone as a child. It has definitely not been an easy route here, and a difficult path not meant for most, but I’m happy to say there’s not a single regret I’ve had joining this industry. That’s why though we are not working and currently on Strike as Sag-Aftra Members, I would not change careers for a second. We just learn to pivot and continue to be develop our skills.
I’m also heavily inspired by anime and video games, and many comment when seeing our fights on how the camerawork is as dynamic as a game, this is the reason why. My fight team “We are FWC” have been creating viral fight scenes this year that are mainly one shots, full on scenes with no cuts, so directing the route of the camera in these scenes to dance well with the performers and showcase the moves in the best light is imperative. I love shooting and directing, and choreographing fights based on my friends skills are always a treat. So during this downtime from Hollywood films, I’m happy to continue to be able to share my art with the public.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Currently it’s to make a top action film. It has always been my goal to leave my mark on the industry by creating a film of the likes that inspired myself for the next generation. Films like “The Raid:Redemption,” “Ong Bak the Thai Warrior,” films by Jet Li and Jackie Chan, Blood and Bone, all these creative works left a deep impact on my mind when I was younger, and I always wanted to create something that would also inspire others in the same way. I feel creating a feature will be the best way to do that, so that is the eventual goal we are working towards.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
So I’ve had a social media Marketing agency for the last 7 years called Lusiv Management. We’ve helped individuals and businesses learn how to grow on social media, and connected influencers to brands for promotions. Since I’ve known this world for sometime, when I decided to pivot, I knew the general route to virality and how to build my audience. Everything I’ve done has been done completely organically, which though does take more time, is a very helpful way for you to truly understand what people want to see from you as a creative. Social media is fairly simple in concept, difficult in execution. Essentially you need to create content that both you and your audience enjoys, is shareable, and rewatch worthy. Anything that is truly viral will generally always go viral, because even if only 1 or 2 people see it, they will share it, and that will create a waterfall affect. A lot of people like to hate on the algorithm, but as Mr. Beast (the biggest youtube creator) says, just rename algorithm with audience. If a post doesn’t do well, your audience didn’t like it enough, not the algorithm. There’s a lot more to say on this, because things can come down to simple things like formatting for the platforms you’re on, etc, but the lucky thing about social media is that it currently is free to post. So use it like a science experiment, split test your content, and hone in on the thing that people want to keep coming back to your platform to see from you. And sooner or later you’ll gain your following. I gained over 60k followers from 5k over 3 days from one viral post, same with my team member David, going from 8k to 105k in 4 days. Lots more that went into it, but if you have questions feel free to dm me @bboyswirv and we can set up a consultation haha.
