We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Girl Mobb . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Girl below.
Girl, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My most meaningful project was Graffiti Camp For Girls, a nonprofit spraypainting class for teens that me and a friend, Deirdre O’Shea, stated in 2016. Seeing a lack of public art works, murals, etc done by women on the streets I started teaching these spray painting classes for girls, non-binary, gender fluid, LGBTQ+ teens as a week long mentorship ending with a mural production done by my students, that they decided and collaborated on as a collective.
I still do these classes every spring and summer. Several murals are still on display from classes in Oakland, San Francisco, Hayward, Portland, Cincinnati and more.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started as a graffiti writer in Cincinnati, moved to Oakland in 2008. Girl Mobb, my artist name, comes from my inspiration to work with other women as a collective on several art projects with femme centered themes.
It’s been a blessing to have worked on so many productions with other women in the Bay Area. And creating and being lead director of Graffiti Camp For Girls to share my skill set with others.
I currently work in an all women tattoo shop in Oakland called Sorry Mom.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a instructor an artist I’ve had to find many new ways to teach during the pandemic and how important it is to have these classes which brings youth together and helps them connect with their peers socially and creatively.
During some of the worst fire seasons we’ve been able to do our classes due to respirators being worn in class, we just went right on with it! Bring the only thing happening in SF at the time..
When it rains we simply stop painting and wait for the rain to stop, then get back into it.. if the desire is there to make it happen, we can make it happen..
As an artist in my personal work I’m learning to grow and change with it, especially learning a new medium currently with tattooing.. my style is there but using a new medium makes it completely new for me, from the wall to the flesh, it’s a way more one on one experience with others and a more personal collaboration.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
You get to wake up and make your schedule, you get to reinvent yourself and hopefully impact others along the way.
