We recently connected with Giovanni Serra and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Giovanni thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I started the idea to start my business “Wellness Through The Lens” due to the passion I have for inspiring others as well as helping others become a better version of themselves. I’ve been an athlete my whole life playing a variety of sports (football, basketball, track) and I would say my love for fitness and physical health started at practice. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 13 years old, 7 years ago, and since then I’ve grown to build a healthy relationship with my diabetes and help other diabetics regulate and control their diabetes. My mission for my business is to connect with and help as many people, especially diabetics, as I can handle with their health goals, as well as helping them capture the moments in between!
Giovanni, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I have been uploading content consistently online for 5+ years across multiple social platforms. The last two years however I have been mainly focused on documenting my journey through life as well as help inspire and educate others on how to live the best quality of life. I have talked to and shared my experiences with hundreds of people around the world and I can say what separates me from other trainers/photographers is my humility with my clients/ and with just regular people. I make whoever I’m communicating or working with feel as comfortable as possible while going against the grain a little bit in action of improvement.
I am most proud of my God allowing me to have the opportunity to share my life experiences and show the world that it’s more than okay to be yourself and live life through God, and not just yourself. We live for others around us and that starts with improving the source (you).
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Growing up in a single parent household, I was very angry. Very blessed and taken care of, but angry. I blamed the world for everything and the people in it. Even God sometimes. Just recently about 2 years ago my perspective flipped and I realized blaming others wouldn’t make my situation any better, actually it made it worse. I grew up relatively fast so I would say that has a huge role in my perspective change, and now I realize the only person you can blame and make a difference with is yourself. And that realization has helped me and the people around me tremendously.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal is to bring more light and positive energy into the world and show as many people as I can that the world is way more beautiful and lovely than we give credit. There’s way more love than there is hate. Putting God first in your life will be the single greatest thing you ever will do. Influence others to work hard on themselves everyday by leading by example.
