We recently connected with Giovanni Du Bose and have shared our conversation below.
Giovanni, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me would be showing me the possibilities that can come from nurturing creative pursuits and passions. Jamie McPhee gave me my first real look at the many avenues available within the photography landscape. She also was the one who suggested I take my photography skills seriously because of the eye that I have. To that point I never really had anyone speak life into my creative talents like that, let alone someone I barely knew at the time!

Giovanni, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the commercial photography and videography industry by chance, truly it was suggested to me, and I kept seeing things through, even when circumstances and opportunities were scarce at moments.
I provide services as a freelance photographer and videographer, mostly from the behind the scenes space, but I also have experience from the commercial campaign space too.
The problems I tend to solve for my clients with my services is bringing a cinematic perspective to their visual requests with a splash of individuality. For example, If I’m covering an event my job is to capture it in a way that guarantees FOMO from people who weren’t in attendance. For commercial work, I’m known for getting the candid clips and shots of the talent on set that allows that person to be authentic and more of themselves, allowing viewers to connect and resonate with them on a human level.
The thing I’m most proud of, is getting this far. There have been many times along my journey and even times now where I question my choice in taking this path. However, I receive confirmations from God, almost immediately when I find myself in that train of thought.
The main things I’d want potential clients, followers and fans to know is that I’m human first. Meaning, I value connecting with others that understand the human component of life and that love should always lead the way. If we lead with love, a day’s work, even with difficulty won’t be THAT bad. If we all remember to approach each other as equals we are bound to receive the best results in return. A Shotbygeebose production can truly be one of the best ingredients for a good vibe on your production set!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The mission that drives me is being my best and actualizing the fullest creative potential of what God trusted me with. To be a good steward of the gifts and talents I’ve been blessed with and to inspire others to do the same in whatever capacity that makes sense for their lives.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative is when things go from idea to physically tangible. There is no better rush and feeling than to have something you saw in your mind’s eye become a physical reality, especially when it comes to completion better than you could expect or imagine.
