We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Giovanna Paolella and Nina Neville. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Giovanna and Nina below.
Alright, Giovanna and Nina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
I don’t manage my own social media—We’ve hired a manager to handle it. We made that decision because we realized how much time and mental energy it was taking away from actually running our business and being present with clients and events. Delegating it allowed us to focus on what I do best: creating, curating, and serving.
The results have been so worth it. Having someone who understands our brand voice and can consistently show up online has helped with visibility, engagement, and attracting aligned clients. It’s also brought so much peace of mind.
My biggest insight: Hire someone who truly understands your mission, not just someone who can make pretty posts. Communication and collaboration are key—you still want your essence to come through.
Advice to other business owners:
• Don’t wait until you’re drowning to get help.
• Treat your social media like an extension of your customer service and brand presence—it matters.
• If you’re going to outsource, invest in someone who can strategize, not just post.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
A Series of Fortunate Events is Las Vegas’ premier women-owned event planning and design company, co-founded by Giovanna Paolella and Nina Neville. After working together for over three years and successfully producing everything from grand openings and celebrity dinners to baby showers, weddings, and political events, the duo turned their shared passion into a full-fledged business rooted in creativity, intention, and connection.
Giovanna Paolella (31), originally from New Jersey, brings a strong East Coast work ethic and over a decade of food and beverage experience to the Vegas scene. Since relocating to Las Vegas five years ago, she’s made a meaningful impact—not only through events but also through community building and mentorship. Known for her drive and resilience, Giovanna embodies what it means to rise, fall, and rise again, creating space for women to lead fearlessly in the industry.\
Neville (27) was raised between Orange County, CA, and Henderson, NV. Her career in hospitality has taken her to vibrant cities like Nashville and Philadelphia, where she gained invaluable experience. Eight years ago, she returned to Las Vegas and steadily climbed the ranks of the food and beverage industry. It was within this industry that she met Giovanna, who quickly became both a mentor and a close friend. Their bond evolved into a strong partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared passion. “Because of Giovanna, my hard work was recognized, and I was given the opportunity to grow in this industry at such a young age. It only takes one person,” Neville reflects. Today, the two are united by a common purpose: turning special moments into unforgettable memories for their community.
Together, they’ve created a brand that brings unforgettable memories to life. What sets A Series of Fortunate Events apart is their fully customizable offerings. From luxe balloon installations and handmade décor to live music, DJs, immersive experiences, and globally inspired, chef-driven cuisine—no two events are ever the same. Whether a client needs a simple bartender and light bites or a full-scale production, the team delivers with professionalism, style, and soul.
The company proudly specializes in private events, weddings, themed parties, showers, bachelorette weekends, corporate functions, open houses, cultural celebrations, and so much more. Their mission is simple: to provide a stress-free, unforgettable experience where your only job is to enjoy. And yes—they’ll travel to wherever the party takes you.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Giovanna and I came from managing restaurants together for 3 years before starting our company. Before leaving the company we were previously with, we were faced with no longer getting paid, our staff not getting paid, and even vendors not getting paid. At that point we saw that things were not only not getting better but unfortunately getting worse. We made the tough decision to walk away from what we both saw as our “end-game” careers in order to protect ourselves and our values as people while showing the staff that this was not a situation to take lightly. After 4 months of not working and feeling lost we finally picked ourselves off the ground and began to brainstorm. Neither of us wanted to get back into restaurant management or even restaurants at all for that matter. However, our favorite part of managing restaurants was getting to use our creativity to put together all sorts of events. So instead of doing what we normally would’ve done which is touch up our resumes, get to job hunting, and call it a day- we thought “Ok… how do we turn that into a career? No more working for others, it is time to take control.” This is where A Series of Fortunate Events was born.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
When we started A Series of Fortunate Events we knew we would have to have other jobs while the business was taking off. We also were confident and determined to make that temporary. We started the business in April of 2023 with just a logo that we had posted on social media to see if we would get any leads. It was basically immediately that we were booked for our first event. The excitement took over and reality set in- we did not have a single serving dish or fork to execute this event. With 24 hours to plan, cook, and purchase all of the items we needed to put together a successful evening for our first clients. Working together we were not only able to create a memorable evening for our clients we were able to create a lasting relationship and have done multiple events for them since. When you want something to work as bad as we had in that moment- you do what it takes. Since April of 2023 we have been non-stop putting together events from birthdays, to baby showers, to political events with our state and national leaders, to weddings, grand openings, veteran events, charities, and every type of event in between. Some of our key milestones have been hosting the Purple Hearts VIP pre-party for Allegiant Stadium, Hosting the NFL Draft for Jaden Hicks, being front cover of the Real Vegas Magazine April 2024 issue, appearing on the Morning Blend with KTNV as well as FOX 5. We also had the honor to host the Henderson swat team, Councilwoman Victoria Seaman’s Breakfast Buzz, Waldorf Astoria’s F1 party, and were nominated as finalists for the Vegas Chamber 2024 Emerging Business of the Year.
