We recently connected with Giovana Zamudio Maribel Garcia and have shared our conversation below.

Giovana Zamudio, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?

We hope that our legacy will be creating unforgettable experiences for our customers that will bring people together and make their special moment magical. We want our work to bring excitement and joy, which will make every event memorable and special for both our customer and their attendees.

Giovana Zamudio, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

We are Giovana and Maribel, owners of Vision Decor 23. We have always loved decorating and making every event memorable, which we always tried to do for our friends and family by decorating for their special events. Little by little we had family friends start to reach out requesting that we decorate or help them plan their events. When we did this they would just buy all the supplies and we would do it for them for free. When we started to get more and more people reaching out to us because they liked our work we decided to start our own business.
Starting our business we knew that we needed to expand our services more than just balloon decor. We knew we wanted to stand out and offer more. We started reaching out to big business, schools, and our community. That’s when we decided to start offering a little bit of everything. We now offer balloon garlands, rose walls, linen rental, centerpieces, throne chairs, marquee numbers, and a variety of backdrops (custom/linen/arch/chiara). These are the services we currently offer but we are always looking to expand and keep our inventory up to date. Although there are many people in our industry, what sets us apart is that we offer a full service. We can do something as simple as just a back drop or we can handle the entire party planning and setup.

How’d you meet your business partner?

We met when Giovana started dating Alonso, Maribel’s brother. We quickly bonded and realized that we both shared a love for planning events and decorating. We realized that we both had a similar vision for creating experiences for others and that is how we became business partners.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

When we first started our business we didn’t realize how much money we were really going to need to start it. We each had a spare savings account that we put together which helped pay for the business licenses and some of the inventory. But that money ran out quick. We got hired for an event in which we needed a lot more inventory than what we had and had to come up with a solution fast. We realized that our best and fastest option would be to try to get a credit card that we could pay off with the money we got from each event. After our first event, we were able to pay that off and have some extra money for the next investment. And then we continued to grow our capital from each event we did.
