We were lucky to catch up with Giorgio Rossini recently and have shared our conversation below.
Giorgio, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I am in this moment working on my most meaningful project: a film on the topics of violence in sports and LGBTIQA+.
In the last decades way too many times the news report of accidents, fights and even murders because of sport rivalry, especially soccer in Europe. This seems just meaningless and without reason to me: sports should be a time to have fun, cheer, enjoy with friends and have a good time in general. Violence has no place in a stadium, or even in the streets, neither before or after any match, no matter who wins or loses.
“A time to make friends” (title in working) is a project that wants to underline the absurdity of such reality, depicting a group of close friends ending their friendship because of a rivalry in sport and in life. Strong LGBTIQA+ topics will also be involved in the project, spreading awareness of minorities and supporting equality, breaking down walls and facing taboos and stereotypes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an Italian actor and filmmaker currently based in Los Angeles. I come from a small town called Lumezzane, but I am a world citizen. After school and university studies in Italy, graduating in Foreign Languages and Literatures in 2020, I did an exchange program in Spain before coming to the US to study acting at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduating in 2022.
In-between different jobs and travels, I was on set both in front and behind the camera, developing my passion for both aspects of the industry. That is how I decided to start producing my own projects, on topics I truly care about and telling stories I believe to be needed and useful.
“Wi-Fi Date” has been my first project, in co-production with my dear friend Daniela Lugo, and it confirmed my true love for camera work, from the beginning to the end of the process! The internationality of such product has gotten me just blown away, with interest and participation not just in the US, but also Mexico and Italy and more!
That wants to be my special contribution to the industry: bringing more and more people from abroad into the Hollywood lifestyle and work. That is why, the projects in the making already have attached people from Europe and Latin America, and more people will be needed and welcomed from all over the world. My Production Company, “El Gnaro”, is the visible significance of my story. It means “The boy” in my local dialect, meaning that anybody can do it as long as you believe it and you are yourself, bringing your past to form your future. My education is a fundamental part of me, and it helps shaping my future self in this industry, setting me apart and complementing the gaps.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
The main challenge creative artists have is the struggle between money and the art itself. Many times, especially for starting actors and creatives in general, the arts alone are not enough to support their lifestyle, especially in a city like Los Angeles. A day-job is needed to pay the bills and have a roof above our head, taking away time from our true passion.
I myself had to face this dilemma multiple times, and I often decided in favor of the arts, but only after making some maths and making sure I was able to pay my bills and was not going to loose my job. Both the sets of “Stranger” and “The box” required me to be on set everyday for 2 weeks, having to ask time off from my job at the time at Universal Studios. But the excitement to see my name attached to project streaming online and winning festivals is worth all the sacrifices done.
Some other times, instead, I had to turn down a project in order to maintain my economic stability.
Every person makes their own choices, and accepts the consequences. However, too often we do not get enough support from non-creative people, who rather see us as fools and risk-takers for no reason when we pursue our passion for the arts.

How’d you meet your business partner?
School and education has always been a big part of my life, and it still does. I receive messages of support and congratulations from my teachers and mates, from primary school all the way to my second degree program. And school also provided the people I often and very luckily work with in most of my projects.
Daniela Lugo, co-producer and star of “Wi-Fi Date”, was my classmate at AADA, and now she is succeeding in her career with the love of her life, Alberto Anaya, Emmy Award winning composer! And I am following her steps, as a friend and an admirer of her work.
Charlotte Hendrickx, actress and producer from Belgium, was the first person to involve me in a passion project behind the camera, and she is a role model for who I want to be. She went to AADA, too, and I was lucky enough to see her work on stage during my second year of conservatory program there.
Elisei Sandu, stunt-man and parkour expert, is my action hero. We trained together at the Azure Italia Academy and I knew right away we would have worked together in the future. I have 2 projects in the process of pre-production which will definitely have his name attached, and he involved me in a new Italian action-packed series by the title of “Wisdom Weapon”, currently filming in Rome and Venice, in the role of executive producer.
Many other names and roles I have in mind and I will reach out to from my years of school-desk and homework.
