Giona , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
I always tried to sell my products on Instagram but I could never seem to find my target audience. I was on Instagram for 2 years but only got orders from my friends and family. I started to see how popular tiktok was when it came to small businesses so I started going into marketing lives to get advice on how to start a successful business. The main point I got from the lives were be consistent and try selling on tiktok live. I posted every single day until I got to my follower goal which was 1,000 to get access to tiktok live . I hosted a “launch party” for my first live and got not only one order but I got over 15 orders.
Giona , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Earlier in 2021, I found out I was pregnant although, I was super excited to be a mom I was extremely nervous. Later in the year I gave birth to a beautiful babygirl, but I also went through a difficult breakup that led me to become insecure and depressed. I wasn’t as educated on “postpartum depression” like I needed to be so I was in denial and at really low point in life. While dealing with a high level of stress and getting use to being a new mom,l realized that self-care is a necessity for all. My passion for knowing more about the different aspects of self-care allowed me to develop a stronger sense of what self-love truly represents. I aspired to build a brand that further conveys a strong message about personal care and how it betters all aspects of your life.
It’s easy to lose direction when you are not confident in yourself, working a 9-5, or having a ton of responsibilities. Which is what I had to deal with , currently still dealing with . It really started to take a toll on my mental health. I had to open my eyes and remember I have someone looking up to me to me now and giving up wasn’t an option. I quickly realized that in order to be at my best physically, I needed to take care of myself mentally. I started doing various things to take care of myself. It became a realization that the sexier I felt, the more confident I was in everything I did. Taking a hot bubble bath with body care products that smelt amazing made me feel relaxed. Wearing a silk robe around the house, allowed me to be comfortable in my skin and help me feel luxurious. I created a brand that reflected on my everyday struggles. I battled not only with my weight but most importantly my mental health. JORNAECO products are perfect for those days whenever you want to pamper yourself and feel good about yourself, I now appreciate that it’s a luxury to be at my best. A luxury to take care of myself. Watering myself has allowed me to evolve. My own products quickly became the perfect addition to my daily care routine. As a single mother , my goal is to empower women, all shapes and sizes to feel gorgeous. To know they deserve to spoil themselves. To realize that’ self love is the best type of love. Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Everyone always promotes being consistent will build your audience, Although that is true, It is deeper than that . You don’t only want to sell your product , but you want to sell a lifestyle that makes your audience say “this is what I’ve been struggling with let me try this !” People are gonna skip the product pictures you post, the posts where you solely talk about the features of the product because it doesn’t interest them. When you are selling content for your body care brand you want it to be lifestyle focused and showing them off in action to make your audience want them, and want to have that product in their life to embody that soft life aesthetic. Reels and tiktok videos are where you show them their desired lifestyle and their desired look is going to have them running to go get your products.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Finding my target audience made growing my clientele so much easier. I made a tiktok account knowing that it was one of the most popular social media platforms. I posted lifestyle videos such as body care routines, shower care routines, get ready with me, and packing orders videos which interested many people . I posted everyday, engaged with a lot of other influencers and businesses , and reached 1,000 followers. This gave me the ability to do live sales which put my business out there to new potential customers.
