Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gino Rosaria. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gino, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
In 2019 I released my very first radio single. Two days after it was released my radio promoter called me and said: are you sitting down? I got concerned thinking my single had flopped and all my hard work has gone to waste. He told me that my single was picked up by XM Radio and was charting on Billboard. I was excited but didn’t quite understand why asked me if I were sitting down. A few months later I received my first royalty check. Needless to say…It all made sense then.

Gino, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born and raised in Curaçao and developed an interest in music at an early age. Growing up on a very culturally diverse island, I learned to speak four different languages fluently. The influence of the many cultures allowed me to learn and play many different kinds of music, which became a part of his identity. Later on I grew to enjoy Jazz, Latin, and Classical music the most. I started performing on a regular basis in his early teens.
I moved to the US in 2003 to study music under the world renowned Daisy De Luca Jaffe. In 2009, I graduated with a Master’s degree in Classical Music Performance. I then started taking private Jazz lessons with Jazz pianist David Shelander, who studied with Bill Evans. During his time in the US. I went on to win many competitions and appeared on national TV and radio stations performing solo, chamber, and with orchestra.
In 2016, I started a new project called Groove Symphony where I released all original music inspired by my newborn Simon. In 2017 that project won an award for Best Funk/Fusion EP from the Akademia in Los Angeles. Currently I travel as an educator teaching master classes, as a producer producing music for clients all over the world, as a sideman/musical director for many national acts, and as a performing artist continuously writing and performing original music. I’ve performed with some of the best musicians around, including award winning artists such as Karen Briggs, Adam Hawley, Julian Vaughn, Marcus Anderson, Jeff Kashiwa, and more.
I released his first contemporary jazz album in the summer of 2019. On that album I featured several heavy hitters such as Marcus Anderson, Althea Rene, Elan Trotman, Adam Hawley, and more. My radio single “Night Groove” made it onto billboard within the first week! The single made it onto the top 30 on most of the contemporary jazz charts.
My goals are to continue giving virtuoso piano performances in both Jazz and Classical music.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Nowadays social media is a big deal. Everyone is on it. When you see artists publish new content, it costs nothing to like, share, subscribe to that artist’s social media. It goes a very long way in supporting what we spend many hours a day working on.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part about music is the fact that it’s a universal language that can reach the entire world. It’s amazing when you see people in countries you’ve never been to playing and talking about your musical creations. It’s amazing when you’re walking down the street and someone you’ve never met tells you that they’ve heard your work and encourage you to keep releasing more music. It’s just good to know that what I am doing has a positive effect on the lives of many.
