We were lucky to catch up with Ginamarie Soto recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ginamarie, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Taking the greatest risk of my life was a journey fueled by my maternal instincts and a passion for making a lasting impact on the children in Midland, Texas. Recognizing the need for a nurturing environment like the Little Gym for my 2 1/2-year-old, I embarked on a venture that not only shaped his developmental growth but also revealed my potential when Unleashed Brands acquired the Little Gym franchises, I turned experience into opportunity. By leveraging my business management background, I dared to dream bigger and, undeterred, made a significant impact on a grander scale by acquiring Urban Air Midland. This risk wasn’t just about business; it was about transforming challenges into triumphs for the benefit of the community and, most importantly, my child’s future.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
In my 30s, I embraced the thrill of taking risks and relished the satisfaction of earning on my terms. As a mother, I became the proud owner of The Little Gym, later seizing the opportunity to elevate community entertainment by acquiring Urban Air Midland. Our impact resonates in Midland, where we are celebrated for bringing unparalleled family entertainment. Expanding our reach, a partnership in Jackson, Mississippi, is flourishing, with Urban Air Jackson set to open next month. Looking forward, my roots in Odessa, Texas, will be honored as we launch Urban Air Odessa Adventure Park, promising transformative change for the city’s children. This journey is a testament to my dedication to family-centric entertainment and community enrichment.
How’d you meet your business partner?
As a business owner navigating the daily challenges of entrepreneurship, I’ve discovered the pivotal role that acquiring franchises plays in building a highly profitable enterprise. Inspired by Michael Browning, Jr., the innovative CEO of Unleashed Brands, I shared his vision of creating a hub for mothers in my community, offering comprehensive children’s entertainment. Starting with The Little Gym, I seized the opportunity to expand by acquiring Urban Air Adventure Park. Taking it a step further, I became the first to own three brands under the same umbrella, venturing into the realm of E-sports with XP League. This journey reflects my commitment to creativity, vision, and a holistic approach to meeting the diverse needs of families in my community.
Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses.
In my career, I’ve found immense value in learning from others who share my passion. Rather than reinventing the wheel, I believe in buying into a successful business that aligns with my goals. My decision to purchase Urban Air Adventure Park was influenced by insightful conversations with fellow owners who instilled the confidence to embark on this grand-scale venture. As I reflect on the incredible ride of the past few years, with three adventure parks set to open in three years, it reaffirms the power of collaboration and drawing inspiration from those who have walked a similar path.
