We recently connected with Ginaes’ Floetry and have shared our conversation below.
Ginaes’, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Covid has brought about so many changes – has your business model changed?
I have a negative but more positive response to this covid question. In 2018 opportunities were just starting to take off for me. I was getting booked and finally being noticed for my gifts and talents. My name was starting to populate through local areas. But, during the year of 2020 it all went down in a very different direction. Although the world changed and stood still for awhile. Covid allowed me to get really creative. It pushed me to be the best version of myself.
My content got stronger. And social media found creative ways to keep us creators creating during the lock down season.
I started writing poems, making up dances, creating books with my children, writing songs and producing music,
I was apart of plays and while also putting my own production together. Although covid had been a big inconvenience it has had its proper share of some of my best works.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was 12 or 13 years of age when I realized a strong passion for writing poetry. I was very intrigued by the late Dr Maya Angelou. It was not just her poetry that was captivating but it was how she penciled in her words. She had such a way to draw people in and a voice of Soothe when she recited. She seemed to have carried herself as a well respected woman. Poetry for me is my love of all loves and then comes the singing and dancing. I am an upcoming artist with Spoken Moments Ministry.
I do what I call Sermonized Poetry (which is poetry with a twist) I do customized poetry as well. I write for all occasions.
I have 5 books and you can find them all on Amazon.com
My children has books as well.
1. The Release by Tianna G Smith ,
2. In the Eyez Of The Child by Harmony Smith,
3. A Boy Called Me called me by Theodore Smith
4. Kid Possible by Lyrical & Tianna Smith
5. Her Story His Glory A series of M.A.D conversations by The Colorfully Candid Paradigm
I have produced music and it is on all major musical platforms under Ginaes’ Floetry . My name represents a flow of mutliple gifts and talents that I have been blessed with.
I am most proud of where I’ve come from and where I am.
In the last 6 years I’ve accomplished 5 books and 1 in counting, I’ve acccomplished my kids getting what they need to be successful for making it in this world with what they have been handed.
I’ve accomplished music with plans to get back into the studio. I’ve been in mutiple music videos. I’ve been asked to act and dance for play productions and recently I’ve been asked to be involved in a special production that I can’t disclose too much about at this time. It appears to be a wonderful and a life changing opportunity. I’m grateful for my experiences.
Those are just to name a few. I’m excited about where I’m heading.
The importance of my brand for me is to inspire you in a way that true change will take place . Its really simple. I just want you to be the better version of yourself. Working on self is a daily progress.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Things got different for me on this journey when I had my 1st child back in 2009, then being told as she was 3 years old that she was autisitc. I knew that things were off a bit in developing way before being diagnoses. My child wasnt developing like a normal child would. I wasnt ready to experience all those moments of life during that time but I had to learn.
I was hurt, crushed, embarssed, ashamed, and very broken. But through that I wrote my best poetry. Through that time I heard the voice of God and he was able to push out of me such amazing content. As I stated previously “What comes from the heart reaches the heart.”
What I had to quickly learn to do was to check my emotions and handle business because I wanted help for my child and I didn’t want defeat to overshadow me. I wanted to get her the proper help she needed and deserved.
My husband and I agreed for me to be a stay home mom so I could figure out the best course of action.
Upon doing that Ginaes’ Floetry had to sit down and Tianna Smith had to step up and handle what was ahead.
Now, after 4 kids later. I have finally understood that taking that time off to tend to my children needs made me fight harder for everything else. It is not in me to quit. Yes I’ve seen my fair share of doors closing in my face. But I try and get the lesson learned even through the slammed doors.
My kids helped me to see a strength I never knew I had, I tell myself if I got through the pits of my life I can certainly overcome these moments that I’m in.
I am aware that it is not in my own strength at all . The world must know and understand that my source is the Heavenly Father, God Almighty.
This is what keeps me thriving ahead. It is where this resilience in me comes from..
Have you ever had to pivot?
The pivot came when pursuing my dreams came to a stand still due to life’s unexpected moments. Such as: My children’s diagnosis, and a hit that came for my health. Those were hiccups of life that slowed me down but couldn’t completly stop me.
A childhood teacher once told me to keep on writing. It stuck with me all the way through my high school years and when life was happening bigger than me. It still pushes me even now.
And all of those years later I’m still very connected to this woman whose simple words were keep writing. Those words will forever be in my heart and my head.
I would hear her words and then creative juices would flow. From there I was allowed to create content from the worst places of pain in my life.
But instead of talking about the noticably bad, God allowed me to create a perspective change. That is the general focus of my mission as to who I am.
In all that I do my focus is not the obvious things. I offer a perspective change. How we perceive is how we receive.
The pivot for me is a daily and constant thing I have to do.
