We were lucky to catch up with Gina Onori recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
As an entrepreneur, it’s important to be a risk taker. If you never take risks, you’ll never succeed. For example, I was laid off of my previous job and felt extremely scared and anxious on what to do next. In my brain, I knew I needed money in order to support myself and my family, but in my heart I wanted to start my own business. I was done with the 9-5, and taking orders from someone who looked at me as a number. Working for myself would give me the financial freedom and flexibility I’d been craving. With that being said, starting my own business was a huge risk and it’s what scared me the most. What if I failed? What if I couldn’t pay my rent and we were kicked out on the streets? What if I couldn’t feed my children? There were a million what if’s looming in my head. I was faced with the risk every entrepreneur needs to overcome- taking the leap of faith!
Gina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Gina Onori, I am a mother of three boys and soon to be wife to an amazing partner! We live in the heart of Cocoa Beach, FL and love to spend time at the beach surfing, playing and enjoying the beautiful Florida sunshine! I’ve been involved in the communications industry for over a decade. With a bachelors degree in multimedia journalism, I’ve always been fascinated with people and communications. I’ve worked for a variety of newspapers, news channels and magazines. Back in 2014 I created my own magazine, Swell Life Magazine, and it was a great chapter in my entrepreneurial journey. Running my first business taught me a lot about finances, people, and business in general.
After a few years our print sales started really dwindling and I noticed the world was really leaning more towards a digital aspect. Through digital marketing analytics you could track impressions, click through rates, demographics, and more. This sparked a new interest in myself and I wanted to learn more. Shortly thereafter, I started working for another digital marketing agency where I learned all about digital marketing and how it was helping businesses grow. After years working at that agency and being immersed in the digital marketing world, the entrepreneur in me yearned to come back to the surface. That’s where Shape Shift Marketing came about.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
When it comes to managing a team, being a leader (not a manager) is the best advice I could give. Lead by example and inspire your team through your actions. A good leader motivates, mentors, and works alongside their team to achieve common goals.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
