We were lucky to catch up with Gina Marie Mattei recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Gina Marie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
My team and I are firm believers that to be the change you want to see in the world, you need to take action. That means partnering with organizations that help make the world a better place. As such, we donate a healthy percentage of our profits every year to charities that hold special places in our hearts.
Our Revelation Creative team is full of animal lovers. Whether it’s pups, cats, bunnies, reptiles, or anything in between, we’re big fans of our furred, feathered, and scaled friends. We often Zoom chat about our rescue pets during our monthly meetings. (Some of them even join the calls!) We could not be more grateful to support organizations that improve animal welfare through their tireless efforts.
Our give-back starts with serving our local community. We’re proud supporters of Shore Saves’s Pawlooza.
Pawlooza is a special event at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como, New Jersey featuring a bevy of raffle baskets, food, and drinks. Shore Saves is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that provides care, comfort, and compassion to animals in need while working to find them permanent, loving new homes and families. They’re a local organization that helps dogs who would otherwise be euthanized due to overcrowding in local and southern U.S. shelters.
Another of the organizations we’ve partnered with is Kind Heart Rescue based in Cream Ridge, New Jersey.
Kind Heart has been in the business of rescuing animals for over thirty years. Sometimes, seeing is believing. And we’ve seen the incredible, and often heartbreaking, work that goes into saving neglected, injured, and abandoned rabbits. My husband and I adopted a bunny from this rescue back in 2021 and has since looked for every way possible to support them. That bunny was adopted as a companion for my older rescue rabbit, Bella. Bella unexpectedly passed in March, leaving my family facing unimaginable grief after losing our sweet girl. After a rapid-onset illness, my beloved Bella passed away in my arms. This loss felt unfair and left me feeling helpless. But I believe that despair can be channeled into triumph. With that, I created The Bella Fund, a drive for donations that will cover the necessary medical costs and life-saving interventions Kind Heart provides as part of its rescue services – a beautiful tribute to an angelic creature.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Gina Marie believes that to rise, we must lift each other up. She brings that positive energy to every space she inhabits – personally and professionally.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Over the years, we’ve I’ve taken Revelation Creative from a full-service marketing agency to what it has become now: A consulting firm focused on marketing strategy. We found as a full-service agency, when we didn’t wholly own or fully contribute to the strategy our clients employed for their marketing tactics, we couldn’t ensure as high a success rate as possible. Our goal is to deliver the BEST results for those we serve. As such, we pivoted the business. Now, we are a nationally recognized firm specializing in virtual Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) strategic guidance and implementation services. The change has been one for the better – for our team and for our clients. The road to success is never linear. And furthermore, self-awareness (both personally and professionally) will get you very far. Being able to identify where you’re hitting barriers, examine why they exist, and then devise solutions to allow for continued progress is the only way to grow and survive.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Play to the strengths of your team. Give them the latitude to flex their creativity, own their work, and leverage data-driven insights to shape both how they work and what outputs they deliver. Transparency is crucial. When something work is good, applaud. When there are misses, it’s time to have real conversations focused on teachable moments and areas to improve. Building a culture that is empowered to take measured risks, experiment, and speak candidly fosters lasting relationships with foundations of trust and integrity. And remember – as a leader, you set the tone for the organization’s culture through your own actions and words. So never forget the importance of making the journey a fun one for you and your team.
