We recently connected with Gina-Marie Bethel and have shared our conversation below.
Gina-Marie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear you experience with and lessons learned from recruiting and team building.
For a very long time it was literally just me, struggling through the late nights and back and forth with clients and it made me so drained and anxious. I was apprehensive about bringing someone aboard but in my career field I was thankful to be exposed to such witty, like minded creatives who had the same goal as me; to create awesome and dynamic works that would take us world wide.
Though its still fairly a small team of creative; we definitely cover the basis of Web Design, Videography, Logo Design and now Social Media Management. I needed persons who loved what they do and are always trying to improve themselves in the craft.
One aspect of my recruiting process was the emphasis on a trial period. Instead of making immediate full-time offers, I offered a probationary period where new hires worked on specific projects . This allowed both parties to gauge compatibility and work dynamics before making a long-term commitment.

Gina-Marie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who haven’t heard of me before, I’m Gina-Marie, the founder of Coceptive Media Online and The Co – Founder of Viewtechlive Electronics. My journey into web design and emerging technology began out of a deep passion for creativity. This passion led me to pursue studies in Computer Science and Streaming, eventually, I ventured into the world of web design and development.

We’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, from startups to established enterprises as far as Ireland, and each project has been a testament to the power of good design.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
There’s a profound satisfaction in starting with a blank canvas or a concept and transforming it into something that not only looks beautiful but also serves a purpose and solves a problem. Whether it’s a website that perfectly encapsulates a clients brand or a design that elevates their business, knowing that I’ve played a role in their success is incredibly gratifying.
Another rewarding aspect is the continuous learning and growth that comes with being a creative. The field of web design is ever-evolving, with new technologies, trends, and challenges emerging all the time. This constant evolution keeps me on my toes, pushes me to keep learning, and allows me to innovate.
Collaboration is also a significant source of reward. Working with clients, other creatives, and my team fosters an environment of shared creativity and inspiration. The exchange of ideas, feedback, and perspectives enriches the creative process and often leads to outcomes that are greater than the sum of their parts.
Lastly, the freedom to express myself and my ideas is invaluable. As a creative, I have the liberty to explore different styles, experiment with new concepts, and push boundaries. This freedom is a fundamental part of who I am
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most important lessons I had to unlearn was the notion that perfection is the ultimate goal in creative work. Early on, I was obsessed with getting every detail exactly right, believing that perfection was a sign of professionalism and success. This mindset, however, often led to procrastination, endless revisions, and a lot of stress.
After a particularly tough conversation with the client early on, I realized that my obsession with perfection was not only unnecessary but also counterproductive. They valued timely delivery and functionality over minor aesthetic tweaks that most users wouldn’t even notice. It was a hard pill to swallow, but it was a crucial turning point that gave me more confidence when getting through a development process or getting a server back online for continuous streaming to continue.
Embracing this lesson allowed me to improve my workflow, meet deadlines more effectively, and reduce stress. It also opened up more space for creativity and innovation, as I was no longer bogged down by the fear of making mistakes.
I learned that striving for excellence is different from seeking perfection. Excellence is about delivering high-quality work that meets the client’s needs and expectations within a reasonable time frame. Perfection, on the other hand, is often an unattainable and a subjective ideal that can lead to stagnation and missed opportunities.
