We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gina Hill a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Gina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Pinehill Pavilion: A Risk Worth Taking
When Pinehill Pavilion first opened its doors, it wasn’t just the start of a new venue – it was the realization of a dream built on faith, vision, and a willingness to take a chance. What began as a bold idea to create something extraordinary in our community has since grown into one of the area’s most beloved event destinations.
Starting any new venture comes with uncertainty, and Pinehill Pavilion was no exception. Transforming a piece of land into a space the could host life’s most cherished celebrations required not only resources, but courage. There were questions at every turn: Would couples fall in love with the vision? Could we create a space that felt both elegant and inviting? Would people see the potential I saw?
Through the challenges, one thing remained constant – the belief that Pinehill Pavilion could be more than just a venue. It could be a place where stories begin, memories are made, and community comes together.
The risk paid off. Today Pinehill Pavilion stands as a testament to what happens when passion meets perseverance. The venue has welcomed over 400 weddings, celebrations, and milestones – each one affirming that the leap of faith was worth it. In a world where it’s easy to play it safe, Pinehill Pavilion is a reminder that taking risks- the ones driven by heart can lead to something truly special.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
What started as a dream has become a family business where all three of my grown children work. The event and wedding industry is about more than flowers and decor; it’s about crafting unforgettable experiences. It’s a creative business discipline that demands precision, emotional intelligence, and aesthetic vision. Pinehill Pavilion was born from the belief that venues should be partners in that process – creative collaborators who understand that every couple, every client, and every celebration is unique. With this in mind Pinehill Pavilion decided to train and bring on our own certified wedding planners that work exclusively with our venue. As a family we work daily to keep everything running and strive to be the best at what we do.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When Pinehill Pavilion first opened, we knew creating a beautiful venue was only part of the journey. The other part – just as important – was finding our voice and our community online. Building an audience on social media wasn’t about chasing numbers; it was about connection, storytelling, and showing people the heart behind our business.
Like many small businesses, we started with little more than a dream and a few photos. Social media felt like a crowded space, especially in the wedding and event industry where thousands of venues compete for attention. We didn’t have a marketing budget or a big agency behind us – just a clear belief that authenticity would stand out.
Instead of trying to look like everyone else, we focused on that make Pinehill Pavilion us: 1) The natural beauty of our grounds. 2) The privacy from the road and city. 3) The craftsmanship of the beautiful cottages for the bridal party to get ready the day of. 4) Beautiful photos of our clients expressing genuine joy. 5) The gorgeous glass bifold doors that can open the venue into a true pavilion so that guest could enjoy the outdoors.
Every event hosted at Pinehill Pavilion has its own heartbeat. We began sharing those moments online – with permission, of course. A bride’s laughter during golden hour, a father’s first look, the beautiful decor, the different ceremony setups.
Consistency and creativity builds trust. Posting on social media regularly with the help of Hoot-suite was a huge win. Authentic, consistency, community over competition, and storytelling sells but sincerity sustains.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Pinehill Pavilion broke ground in 2020 in the midst of COVID-19. When we first began building Pinehill Pavilion, the world was in the middle of an unexpected storm – with the pandemic. What was meant to be a time of excitement and forward motion quickly became a season of questions, setbacks, and constant change. Yet through it all, our belief in the vision never wavered.
Construction began just as shutdowns and safety restrictions swept across the country. Materials were delayed, contractors were limited, and timelines shifted again and again. What we thought would take months stretched into over a year. Every week brought new challenges – changing health guidelines, lack of supplies, uncertainty about when events could be held again.
There were moments when it would have been easier to stop, to pause the dream until “things got better.” But we knew that the heart behind Pinehill Pavilion to create a space where people could come together, celebrate, and find joy was exactly what the world needed when the dust settled. So, we pressed on!
