Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gina Carrillo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I’m a Spoken Word Artist from Franklin, TN. I write about getting through deaths, beating cancer and surviving domestic violence! I hope through my experiences I can help to inspire & motivate others!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I started writing at around 14 years old with a diary and then that turned into Poetry. I always wanted to publish a Poetry book! When the Pandemic hit, I was able to indulge more in my passion of writing. I started performing on virtual open mics and zoom events. I found out about the Instagram Poetry community and they were really motivating! I was inspired to finally get my book together! I published Kaleidoscope in 2021. It is available on Barnes & Noble & Amazon websites! I started performing at Luve shows! I met a lot of other writers, we came together and created the Prodigal Poets Poetry Crew! We are now performing weekly in Nashville & surrounding cities!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

Poetry has helped me heal through all the trauma. I also have been with Bridges of Williamson County for Domestic Violence for 4 years now. They have really helped me build boundaries and work on self care & love! I’ve been able to live a happy and free life without any drama or stress and only have positive interactions and relationships!
