We were lucky to catch up with Gina Boykin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Live Music Junkiez was born from my own need to have one central place to find out what’s happening in Atlanta regarding live music. I discovered that there are many people who have an interest in exploring the music scene but don’t know where to start. It’s very rewarding to hear from people how they’ve tried new places and discovered new artists! It’s also pretty fun to shock people with the number of places that have live music on a daily basis. Continues to blow my mind- Atanta is such a music city!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Live Music Junkiez is a resource for anyone looking for live music in and around Atlanta! This includes everything from music venues to restaurants, cocktail bars, breweries and more! We provide a daily list of events via social media, details for upcoming festivals and open mics on our website, and exclusive interviews and giveaways. The goal is to support local artists and smaller touring bands.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Consistent posting, staying connected as much as possible to your audience, being authentic and seeking advice. I was not into social media at all before stating my page so I was constantly seeking advice from “experts” as well as friends and followers. It’s a bit scary to put yourself out there too, but I’ve learned over time to do just that.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One thing I’ve heard from others in the music industry about my social media platform is that it is consistent. Being consistent proves you’re reliable. People can count on you to provide the information they’re looking for and I believe this is extremely important. It doesn’t mean that you won’t make adjustments along the way, but staying true to the core values of your business is your reputation.
