We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gina Barosy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gina below.
Gina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Each job opportunity I’ve landed I took a risk on. I was unsure of what my purpose was until I found it by working my way up in the corporate ladder and finding myself through meditation. I believe that the opportunities that are in front of you aren’t luck it’s what was meant to be for you and no one can take that away from you. Applying for jobs can be tedious and honestly there is only one job that I’ve applied for and gotten. All the jobs that I’ve gotten is because a stranger walked in and wanted me on their team. They often tried to buy me out in order for me to partner with them and work on their vision. I must say that say’s a lot about my character and I ensure I am an asset in any team. Which is why I sharpen my skills, learn new ones, and give back to the community any time I can. I’ve just began a new accounting class at FAU and so excited to learn this side of business.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

how you got into your industry:
Networking is a powerful tool. I was able to building relationships and show others how much of a dedicated worker I am. Each opportunity I was given was because I knew someone who saw my purpose and value. They trusted me with implementing their visions. With that, I was not only able to grow immensely, but also expand their company or business.
business:
I have a cake business called CWB Sweets. We make Haitian cake with a twist by infusing your favorite beverage in our cakes. Our recipes was passed down from my aunt who currently lives in New York City and is growing our family business there as well.
As kids my sister and I loved watching “The Food Network”. We always dreamed about starting our own business and participating in the show called “Cupcake Wars”. Once we were of age to reach the dials of the oven we began baking. At first it was a wild mess in the kitchen since my mom was a stickler on cleaning as you go, but we kept on practicing and learned a flow. My sister was a master with making the perfect cake batter and as a visionary I became skilled in cake art. We noticed that we began to prefect our craft and challenged ourselves to start a business. We began by bringing cupcakes to school and selling it to students. We became known in school for the two sisters who bake and shortly after the school started order cakes from us to go with the different themes of their events and meetings. Since we’ve gotten the large order from our school our business has grown ever since. We’ve done large events, weddings, and now we even add a twist to our cakes for the older crowd. This business flourishes because of family. Our family bond in unbreakable and I’m so happy that I can share this business not only with my sister but with my mom.
Discipline:
Although building professional relationships came easy; building friendships came hard. Without the distractions of getting invited to the next seasonal event I was able to stay focused on my goal. My mom being the last out of 12 bothers and sisters my grandmother had; my cousins has always been my best friend and soul sisters. They inspire me so much to continue working on my goals and to have fun while doing it too.
Craft:
I found a new love in renovating homes by creating a mess from day 1 with demolition to the final days when the vision in my head becomes reality. The accomplishment I feel after a crafty project is unmatched and I believe every room can use an accent wall for a little face lift.
Services:
I have the amazing opportunity to be Suits for Seniors COO. This is something I am truly blessed and thankful for. I continue to strive to be a few steps ahead and educate high school seniors in title one schools who are eager to learn and do more. There is so much to learn from-from the new generations that are brought into this mighty world. All of which who are gifted with tools that can provide them ultimate success. My goal is to shine light on their skills and their dreams to be able to provide a resource and mentor them as they make that transition from high school to college. As some may know this transition can be challenging and I aim to be that cheerLEADER for any student that is in the Suits for Seniors program.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I am grateful that I have an influential mentor by the name of Jervonte Edmonds. He has shown me how to become a stronger leader and with that has shared skills with me to do so. Mr. Edmonds is very impactful when it comes to building my reputation and I maintain this by building my network to turn it to network. As well as, getting involved with local organizations such as Leadership West Palm Beach and New Leaders Council.
