Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gianni Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gianni , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Ah, yes! I remember this day vividly. The news had just broken about COVID-19 and it was spreading rapidly and I knew I didn’t have a job at the time and would need to come up with a way to create a source of income. I sat on the couch in my student apartment living room with my laptop open as I had just finished submitting an assignment for one of my undergraduate classes at Georgia State. As I sat, I took a few moments to think and it was like a lightbulb went off in my head. Previously, I had my fair share of entrepreneurship by operating my own cosmetics company selling lipglosses and lipstick but it didn’t feel right. I felt like I needed to do something different-something that I was truly passionate about. Then it hit me. I thought of my passions; fashion ( I have always wanted to be a fashion designer) and the field of law(I’ve always aspired to be an attorney) and it all clicked naturally. As I began working at a law firm, I noticed that women were afraid to step outside of the box and wear colors other than black, grey, tan, and navy blue because they didn’t want to be deemed “unprofessional” but somehow I managed to wear bold colors and present myself as professional. My co-workers would compliment me and ask where I was able to find my pieces and tell me how they were afraid to wear certain colors. That’s when I knew I could use my passion for fashion to create an even bigger impact, a movement per se.
Growing up, I used to draw out designs and I even had a sewing machine. At that time, I didn’t know it was something I wanted to take seriously because I was a little kid but fast forward to twenty years later, it all made sense at that moment and the rest was history. I do not design my clothes at the moment but I knew that the name for my clothing brand was too unique to let go and also there was no other brand with an approach as unique as mine. So, I texted my graphic designer that same day and told her I needed a Logo. I filed my llc literally the same day and just took baby steps everyday to build my brand. It hasn’t been easy but I don’t regret any part of it!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I remember about a year ago, I was seeing this guy and on the way to work he looked at me and said to me “Don’t forget to be Legally Attractive today” and it seems like those words have stuck with me ever since. It made me think about how much I rep my brand and how others will notice it even if you don’t. So when I say represent your brand, I mean it. No matter how “cringy” it may seem. I used to be afraid of people not being receptive to me building a brand but now when people look at me, they immediately think of “Legally Attractive” and I love that. I’ve created a reputation just by being myself and catering to the things I love the most so that when people look at me, they know I am serious about my business and everything it stands for. I make sure that if I’m on social media, people know that I am talking or promoting Legally Attractive. I love sharing my outfit of the day featuring a Legally Attractive piece. Attending networking events during covid was pretty hard but post-covid I’ve been joining groups and meeting several other business owners and introducing my brand to people as well. When you take your business serious, other people will as well!
