We were lucky to catch up with Gianne Darla Villaverde recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gianne Darla, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I love risk taking. I was pulled to share this one!
I consider myself to be an adventurous individual and I LOVE to travel. I’ve thought about doing a solo travel for the longest time and I finally did it. So this is how it went…
I went through a series of life changes last year and I wanted to have a Julia Roberts “Eat, Pray, Love” moment for myself. I only told a handful of people about my mischievous plans to travel to Puerto Vallarta by myself and I thought I was CRAZY for doing so.
Come January, I pulled the trigger. I stayed for 4 days (which was not long enough) and I felt scared, anxious, and super vulnerable!!! I was carrying my pepper spray with me everywhere I went, people probably thought I was combative or unfriendly. Towards the end of my trip, I met another solo traveler which put me more at ease. We shared a lovely dinner together with our toes in the sand eating oysters (yum). I also met a lovely couple on the way to PV and shared a meal with them as well. We were exchanging stories and laughter in the presence of food, which felt very intimate. I didn’t wanna come back to Austin!
Taking a risk reminds us how to live. How to tap into our senses and be purely present. Taking risks increases true confidence and allows you to exercise your courage muscle. Taking risks allows you to face your fears! The more you do it, the less your fears have power over you!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an artist. I love to sing and write music. I’ve been singing ever since I was 5. I started writing music around 2019-2020!! I write music from the heart and my intentions are always to serve and be raw that other people can relate and connect on a deep level! Writing brings me fulfillment and pure joy. Writing my first EP will always be a proud moment for me.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely! One thing I’m wanting to explore more is to integrate more of my culture in my music. Singing to me is a way to serve. That’s the heart and value of why I do what I do. I’ve turned down singing opportunities that aren’t aligned with my value system.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing would be seeing your thoughts and things you envision actualize in real time. It’s such a surreal and beautiful moment. Sometimes it’s not 100% what you imagined but it’s perfect. I sometimes have dreams where I’m either pregnant or holding a new born baby. I take it as my intuition’s way of telling me that there’s a project needing to be birth. Not wanting a child at the moment so I like to tell myself that’s what it is lol!
