We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gianna Wurzl a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Gianna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Ever heard of a brand psychic? No, me neither.
I’ve been a strategist for 15 years and an entrepreneur for 10. After co-founding my third company, Berries Design, in 2020 and designing some incredible hotels and homes, I really missed my strategy work. I missed helping other people find a clear path amidst the chaos. I realized I was doing that often in my previous company Quilt, where I was interacting with sometimes 1,000 female entrepreneurs a week!
I have always been the kind of entrepreneur and strategist that operates from an internal resource. Meaning, I don’t look to market for the next great idea or solution. Something comes to me, I see the end result and work backwards one step at a time. I realized I can also do this very well for other people. I’m able to see what is coming through my clients; what often feels like a tsunami for them with four thousand tasks at once or no clear path to take their business to the next stage, appears very clearly to me.
The work I do is industry agnostic. I work with film producers, authors, entrepreneurs, Fortune 500 companies. Every problem has a solution, I see the gold amongst the rain drops.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started out as a strategist for big ad agencies. I loved it. My colleagues were amazing. I was living in Australia with the most amazing work life balance AND I always had a burning desire to do more. Every time I checked in, there was this flame that burned to support women. It still does, and I still do support women. So in 2014 I set out to start my first company, One Roof, which converted homes into community and co-working spaces for women. Then in 2016 I partnered with a fellow community builder to create Quilt, a mobile app that empowered women to open their own homes to other women and foster community, whilst also getting paid. We did the whole startup jam. Raised money, built a team, ground our adrenals to a pulp and then it was time to move on. So, in 2020 I started a design business called Berries. Our proposition was “design the way you make love.” I was working with my love, now husband, we had a blast designing homes and hotels together. I’ve always cared deeply about the spaces we inhabit and wondered why they aren’t more beautiful. Why function or beige is always the default. Like walking through an oatmeal landscape without any toppings. Not with us. It was colorful, joyful, interesting, sexy and unique.
Now, I have put a lot of my gifts into a glorious cauldron, mixing strategy, entrepreneurship, clairvoyance, design to help others make their ideas a reality.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The whole journey is about softness and surrender. I was in a breath work the other day and the facilitator was educating us on what it means to have an anti-fragile heart. Which is one that opens over and over again. I feel it’s less about resilience and more about being able to operate from our nature, which is loving, kind and open, no matter what happens. I’ve had some heartbreaks over the years from starting companies. Co-founders, investors, teams, etc and it cuts deep. Like I can’t believe people can operate in a certain way…then I feel compassion and fortunate not to wake up in their shoes. No matter how hard life can be, and it can be very hard, I can find my joy.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Show up. Go above and beyond, not disrespecting your own boundaries, and bake it into the agreement so you always feel honored. I give all of my clients a price range so they can choose what’s comfortable. The low number is totally ok for me and if they are able to compensate the higher cost, I trust they will. I just show up as a human. The lines between client and friend are very blurred. Which is a blessing.
