We recently connected with Gian Kash and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Gian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
To date, the most meaningful project I’ve worked on is titled Hope You Can Relate or HYCR. The writing on that project spanned over 3 years in it’s entirety and all songs were written from my experiences in real-time. It summarizes the feelings of being misunderstood from various perspectives rangin from real life issues to at i face myself to relationships. It means a lot because I feel that even though it’s from my perspective, most who listen can resonate with some if not every song on there.

Gian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been writing music since I was about 7 on and off. I started taking it more serious around 2017-2018. I engineer a little although I stepped back to focus more on writing but know enough to guide someone through the process. I’m most proud of the fact that I’m still going at it after years because a lot of people stop after about 2-3 years or sooner. I want those who listen to know how much I care for the art of music and the time spent to make sure the art comes before anything, it’s not just a hustle for me.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I would say I had to forget the word “marketing”. To me it’s cringy when I think about convincing someone to tune in to what I’m doing because it feels selfish. I changed the way I look at the word now to just understanding that I’m not showing them what I’m doing but that I’m sharing with them what I do.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I plan on reading more books this year but one that has shifted my mindset majorly has been Atomic Habits by James Clear. I actually plan on reading it again soon. It pretty much breaks down habits but also give step by step how to build on habits and how to stay consistent which leads to more confidence.
