We were lucky to catch up with Giahni Bosquet recently and have shared our conversation below.
Giahni, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Certainly the one I just put a period on, Deep Shades of Brown. A visual and audio project that took my entire life to make, it’s meaningful to me because of this. DSOB is a dynamic installment, leading with a 11 track project taking you into a world of sound. I also put together a portrait photography book to accompany the sound and marry the two. You can stream Deep shades of brown everywhere May 26th, 2023 and if you’d like to purchase a photo book, you can find them on bybosquet.com
Giahni, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name’s Giahni Bosquet and I’m a Haitian-American Expressionist. Expressionist because art to me is human expression, expression larger than life so I study it passionately- Always seeking a different way to get the point across. I got into my craft by trying things out and falling on my face. Since an adolescent I’ve been drawing, banging on tables, and noticing beauty. This really matured into me writing, picking up music, photography, and drawing animations. I occupy my time with these crafts and devote myself to progression
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
As a man thinketh by James Allen is a read that’s been foundational to my thinking and philosophy. It’s a book that highlights mental fortitude and emphasizes the human ability to materialize thoughts. It’s significance to me, lies in the moment in time I read it, a period of life where I was unsure about decisions and creative pursuits. The book really helped put a battery in my back in terms of putting action behind my thoughts and replace my fear of “what if” with confidence.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My life’s story is resilience! Growing up in a low income situation, adversity was naturally in my face. I’ve been able to look it in its eye and persevere relentlessly. To me that’s resilient
