Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gia Young. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client?
The best advice I give my clients is not taking a no for an answer. I always let my clients know that if they are denied make sure to get an explanation for the denial. I learned this from hands on experience during the process of purchasing my very first home. I was denied three times before I got a final approval. Every time I was denied I made sure to get an explanation so that I could research and verify that the denial was accurate. Fortunately, my Mortgage Loan Originator on my file made a lot of mistakes and was not up to date with the most recent policies. I was able to correct my MLO which eventually led me to my final approval. I witnessed this principle come full circle when I became a Mortgage Loan Originator and was able to save a denied loan file from a previous lender for a client. We were able to close in just two weeks after getting the file last minute. I don’t think I would have been able to do so if I didn’t previous talk to the client giving him the advice to make sure to get explanations instead of accepting a denial.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was expecting my first baby and nothing about my lifestyle at the time was fit for a new baby. At the time I was living in the middle of a busy city with no family, working two jobs just to have money to save, and drove a sports car. I found myself in panic mode trying to figure out how to prepare for my baby in only 9 months. During the process of purchasing my first house I was denied three times, each time I didn’t take a simple no for an answer, I made sure to get an explanation and research the most recent guideline for the loan product I was pursuing. Each time I corrected my MLO and eventually got a final approval. That moment triggered my interest in pursuing Mortgage Loan Originating, I studied my whole pregnancy and took the test the same week I was released from hospital after having my beautiful baby boy. Yes, you guessed it, I PASSED THE FIRST TRY!
I entered the industry passionate about making every client feel secure knowing that I will explore every option possible to achieve their real estate investing goal. It was the power of knowledge that got me to my final approval. I found purpose in educating people about the mortgage industry through sharing tips about loan products, latest mortgage news, and underwriting guidelines that I feel will help people to achieve their real estate financing needs.
As a dedicated mortgage lending professional with 8 years of collective experience in the financial servicing industry, I prioritize each and every client’s experience. My mission is to not only present the best loan options but to achieve the goal of making sure that the client fully understands the process to make a confident decision.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Being relatable and transparent. I share information that are beneficial to someone who is not in my field of work. The saying, “you don’t know what you don’t know” carries weight in the lending industry. I feel like the more you know the better chances of you achieving your financial investing goals.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I am a great communicator. I feel that communication is key in any type of relationship.
