We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ghesi Stojanov a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ghesi, appreciate you joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Life is full of defining moments.
Life has this fantastic way of giving us intentional moments that challenge our way of thinking by pushing us to reach higher levels of what we believe our true potential, worth, and abilities are.
But for this question, I will share my 1st real defining moment that would change how I approach my life in the future forever.
As a teenager, I used to feel lost and unsure about my place in the world, constantly questioning my potential and worth because of life circumstances that were out of my control. My parents divorced early, and my dad was not in the picture when I was younger, so I dealt with abandonment, worth, and self-love issues. I also grew up in a time when it was a one size fits all with how you looked. So being a Puerto Rican curvy girl in a prominently white neighborhood meant that I was also insecure about how I looked. Which feed into the negative ways I treated myself and interacted with the world around me.
But one day, I had a defining moment that changed everything.
I felt particularly down and hopeless and realized I was tired of feeling this way. So I decided to take three Post-it notes, and on each one, I wrote three simple phrases to myself: “You are capable,” “You are worthy,” and “You are enough.” Something about those words struck a chord with me, and I decided to keep them with me as a reminder by putting them in high-traffic areas in my room and my bathroom so I could see them 1st thing in the morning when I got ready for school and the last thing at night when I went to bed.
Over time, those three little notes helped me shift my perspective and helped me to start believing in myself. I began setting goals and working towards them with renewed energy and determination. And eventually, I reached a point where I no longer doubted my abilities or worth and had totally changed the self-destructive direction my life was heading.
Looking back, I realize that my defining moment wasn’t just about the Post-it notes themselves. It was about the decision I made to take control of my thoughts and beliefs, and to actively work towards a better future.
We can either choose to feed the negative narrative, disappointment, pain, and anger. Or we can work through it and stand in the truth that God has given us all the power to work past, grow from, and create a life full of power, joy, and fulfillment regardless of our circumstances.
We have to learn to understand what I discovered 25 years ago.
Our words are powerful and have the ability to create our reality, so we must choose our words wisely.
SO CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THESE WORDS & PHRASES: “Anything is possible” (because nothing is finished until we take our last breaths), “You Are Truly Beautiful” (because you are Uniquely Made), ” You Have Purpose” (because who you are has value) -and the world needs the light you hold within you!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a certified Transformational Coach, Life Coach, NLP Practitioner, Public Speaker, and Spiritual Director.
I am the owner of “Be the Color,” a Faith-Based Transformational Coaching practice, the Founder of “Pinkies Up for Wellness,” a nonprofit in southern California, and the Youth Leader at Yorba Linda SDA Church.
Within all three of these areas, I am Coach Ghesi.
I take a whole-body approach to healing and focus on the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of who we are to find balance and a sense of flow and fulfillment in our lives.
I have been coaching my whole life but focused on opening and growing my practice after my triple-positive breast cancer journey catapulted me into it. I wanted to share the power, strength, and tools I found through cancer, the loss of my son in a car accident, and the struggle to find connection and footing spiritually through these dark and messy moments.
I have been practicing for six years, and I love the variety of clientele I work with. Whether it’s a newly diagnosed Cancer patient, a young adult/teen, parent, or public speaking at an event or youth rally, I love being a supporter and cheerleader in that person’s life. Because I feel the most alive when I am coaching, sharing, and empowering people to take ownership of their lives and not settle for living lives that are not full of color and purpose.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Uplifting, acknowledging, seeing, and hearing a person for the special and unique individual they are, is so essential when it comes to finding success in my field. Because everyone has their own journey, story, and experiences, and I have to respect where they are now so I can help equip them with the correct tools to help them get to where they want to be in the future.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I recommend one book to all my clients who are coming to me searching for fulfillment and purpose in their lives, and it is a book every person should read.
It’s called “Purpose Driven” by Rick Warren.
It’s one of those books that really opens your mind to understanding that you are here with a purpose and created with intention. Which is so important in the time we are living in, where it is easy to get lost in all the noise that life throws at us.
Reading this book reinforced the respect I bring to each coaching session or interaction I have with someone because it’s a great reminder that we all offer something valuable that only we can share with the world.
And seeing life through that lens allows us to see real magic in this world!
